Okay, I know this sounds weird, but I was playing a board game and when I rolled the die, it fell off of the table and my dog ate it. Now I'm worried about how exactly it will come out of him and if it will hurt him. Are their anyways to possibly induce vomiting, or get the die out without hurting the dog too much? Thanks! Again, kind of urgent.

Personally, I wouldn't induce vomiting. Obviously the die had a smooth trip down, but it might not be so easy on the way back up. It could get stuck in the dog's throat, he could choke on it, and then you have a situation that requires surgery within minutes instead of hours.

If it went in easily it will probably come out just as well. A dog's gut is a truly remarkable thing... I often found parts of my kid's toys in my dog's droppings.

I take it is the die was relatively small compared to the dog. Dogs digest much quicker than we do. Check his stools (ugh), and if he hasn't passed it in about 12-18 hours call the vet.

Of course if your dog shows any signs of distress before that, off to the vet, pronto!

My 2 year old lab mix swallowed 3 rechargeable batteries & they passed through her the next day. Watch your dog's behavior. If he is not his usually self then call your vet. You can also call the after hours Emergency Vet & ask them for suggestions. Good luck!

How big of a dog do you have? If it's a small dog, you may want to see a vet right away, but larger dogs should have no problem. If it's a large dog, I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't panic, he should be fine! Take him to the vet, they can x-ray it and find out where it is. They'll know what to do. Animals are not always able to vomit it back up. be safe!

When my dog swallowed an eraser, she puked it back up on her own. It was still whole, and she was fine.

if you have syringe (no needles) you can give him one table spoon of regular household hydrogen peroxide per 5 lbs (not to exceed 10 table spoons). It will not harm him if you do not overdose. Anyways... its an old vet trick, and even helped a vet who's golden ate a baby turtle lol.
