i've taken her to the vet, and she prescribed Pepcid for the dog. i give her 1/4 of a pill with each meal. but she continues doing so. her breathing isn't normal either. i've heard her wheezing, coughing strangely, and even sniffling a little. i've given her doggie cough medicine for the sniffling (aslo prescribed) but nothing is changing.
i'm aware of the pet food recalls, and i know i am feeding her safe food. i'm giving her Pedigree Little Champions pouched wet food mixed with Beneful Original dry food. i've been giving her the same food for months, and she hasn't acted like this until now.
what can i do? can any of these symptoms be in connectino with a serious condition? PLEASE HELP! i'm worried about my baby girl!

i dono if she's been checked for hypoglycemia.. truthfully i don't think the vet i took her to was very good to begin with, but i adopted her from the same place i get her checked up at.
for the first few months the vet checking her was REALLY good, but after a whiel they had to transfer me (not quite sure why though) i'm very concerned, and i'm also rather broke.
the vet i have to take her to only costs around $25 per visit, others will charge much more (i'm aware b/c i've had other dogs in the past)
any other suggestions though?

i think u should seriously consider changing her vet, please, now as regards the dog, whats her temp? is she running a fever? is she feeding welll? i would stop the dog food for now and just try feeding her boiled chicken and rice, in that way at least the probability of poisoning her further in case the problem is the dog food would be stopped. It doesnt look the pepcid is doing anything for her, she seems to be having some kind of infection, you havent mentioned whether she is having normal bowel movements and whether she is tired and lethargic? Agood vet is the only person to give you the right answers, if she has any infection, she would probably need to have her blood, urine or stool tested , yes the visits may be expensive but the only way to really cure her would be to determine the cause of her problem and to treat it with proper medication, not to hope to solve it with any home remedoes, please she needs proper vet care, cahnge your vet immd and try to take her to a proper vet, good luck, i hope she gets better.

Did the vet check up on everything? There are alot of cases were dogs are posioned by what they eat off the floor or from a bad stranger. I would say go to the vet & get a follow-up since you paid for the services already. If she starts vomitting blood go for the emergency vet. Good luck - I'm sorry i don't know more.

If the medicine isn't helping, take your dog back to the vet. Or to a different one who will try to find out what's going on. Chihuahuas are such tiny dogs, and they can't afford to lose weight. In fact, your dog might even be in danger of dehydration.
I do have a question: Was your dog checked for hypoglycemia? I have a friend who has a chihuahua too, and her vet told her that the little things are prone to such a problem.
Good luck!

Try the sugar water. Her blood level might be low.
It won't heart to try. Don't put to much in her water just enough to bring her level up if that is the problem.
Good luck
