I have 2 miniature Daschunds and they love to eat poo. I want to change this disgusting habit, but I'm not sure how to...any suggestions?

Someone on this board was asking which present s/he could give to a friend whose dog had died.

Just out of curiosity, is this a standard practice in some places of the world?
If so, where?

And is there such a thing as sympathy cards for dogs (or cats or any other pets)?
While at this, how long has this become a standard practice?

I'm asking this because I've never heard of this before.

Who knows if this won't be a motive to say "you learn something new everyday".

(Long live the Internet)

Is there anything wrong with bringing a pit bull into our home? Is it better to get a puppy so he can grow up used to a child, or is it OK to rescue one from the pound? Is it safe to have a pit bull with a small child?

My husband's family had a pit bull when he was a teenager. He just really likes the breed.

All opinions and advice are appreciated.

Okay well my dog definately has fleas. My dog is an outside dog [hound dog] and all he will do is get them back. When I wear white socks, I can see the fleas on them. I can see them jump, and it seems like I see them wherever I go in my house. How in the world do I really get rid of them for good. I am planning to give my dog away, but then they will still be in my house. My daughter has about 30 flea bites all over her legs. I only have a few on my ancles. When I see them, I try to kill them with a tissue. I mean I squeze them as hard as I can, and they jump, and LIVE. They just dont die. I want to get rid of them fast. May I remind you, my family and I are really clean people. We just want to know what to use because there are so many products that are supposed to work, and a lot of people reccomend all kinds of different things. What really works? Please only answer if you have already used it, and you know it works, not if you just think it works. Thank you:]

My fiance and I own an adult basset hound. I watch a 4 yr. old and when I first started watching him my basset was scared really bad like shaking thought he would have a heart attack. He soon got use to him but still keeps an eye on him. One day the lil boy was petting him then all of a sudden my basset barked at him he didn't snap though and this boy isn't an angel he's been mean to my dog before throwing a lil basket ball at him. But I'm just scared for my baby I just know the basset will be terrified of it when I bring him/her home and what if my baby accidentally hurts him and he bites her

I have a 3 year old Great Dane with joint problems and sensitive skin and a 6 year old Great Dane with smaller frame who is very active and doesn't act like a senior at all. I was thinking about putting them on a really good healthy food and I've narrowed it down to Innova Large Breed. The only thing left to decide is whether I should put them both on Senior or Adult. On one hand the 6 year old is a senior and the 3 year old has joint problems, like senior dogs. On the other hand the 3 year old is an adult and my 6 year old is much more energetic and active than he is.

So I took the nutritional break down of both foods and found these to be the biggest differences in content:

Adult formula has more than extra 50% of Leucine, Folic Acid, Omega 3, Fiber than the Senior. Adult also has more than extra 25% of Fat, Biotin, Linoleic Acid as compared to the Senior. All other dosages are virtually the same.

So, in my case, are these extras good for my dogs, or is Senior the way to go?

Although we are looking at a reputable kenneling hospital, my husband is afraid that our puppy may feel abandoned and that when we come back, she may recent us and become a "psycho" dog... I don't agree with him, but I'd like to know what your experience has been on this issue. We got her 3 weeks ago and she's 3 months old. Thanks for your help!

She's had vomiting & diarrhea for 2 days. She's listless and thirsty. We don't want to lose her. She is going to the hospital, but any info someone can provide will help. Her food is not on the recall list.

What is a good quality dog food that isnt very expensive? I have done alot of research on dog foods and found the best quality feed but my father said he cant afford it! My puppy is on Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Lamb & Rice but I told my dad about the poor quality of this food and he said something about feeding Purina I told him that Purina isnt any better then Diamond! And he started to argue with me.....he told me to call the vet and I called 2 different ones to ask them what dog food they reccomend and they both told me Purina or Pedigree? So please help me!!

Well, my 6 year old
Black Labrador (Elliott aka George)
isn't eating.
It's been going for 2 weeks now.
We can't afford to take him to the
vets at present. I'm very
concerned about him because
he is all that matters to me.

I just need to know what's up with him.
He used to be like the dog food disposal.
I don't know if he is depressed or sick.
Is there anyone who can tell me how
to get him to eat even if it's like a tiny bit of kibble?
Is there anyone who is training to be a
vet in the Hampshire area and wouldnt mind
just checking my baby over?

My friend has a six month old pup (short coat). She doesn't spend any time with him, and he is locked in the backyard constantly without adequate shelter (just eaves of the house), no blanket or anything. he does have toys, and is fed adequately but not well. I have approached her about this but she doesn't find anything wrong with it. What do you think?
