My daughter(17) wants one and thinks she will be able to carry it around town with her. I'm not sure this breed's temperment will allow that.

I have a Great Dane, who is gentle, doesn't even bark at people, my kids and their friends are around her all the time. We rescued her and she had been horribly abused, so if anything she is very timid. She is in a fully fenced back yard. The fence is iron and has slats. There is a little boy that is 4 years old that plays at the park right next to our house, maybe 25 yards from our back yard. This child has thrown rocks at my dogs ( I also have a Chihuahua ) and teased them. So yesterday as he walked up to the fence, I told his mother that she needed to keep him away, Zee ( the great dane) was actually growling at him, I have never heard her growl at all. She said, yes, but if he gets bit, it will be your fault and I could sue you, since you don't have her on a leash. I said, yes but she is fully fenced in and your child is mean. She said it didn't matter and she was not going to tell her child not to go to my fence, that if I didn't keep her on a chain, it was my fault.

It is A Mandatory Sterilization at 16 weeks for all kittens and puppies.
It will allow charges of very high fees and Fines for all pets found intact.
There is NOT an exemption for visiting animals into California.
If you are unable to pay the government will they take your pet away????? Quite Possible!
Early Sterilization can KILL your tiny baby pets or leave them with health problems.
I'm not against Spaying/Neutering but I am against the GOV'T mandating.
Have you heard about this? What have you done to keep your dog and cat from being subject to California law? Isn't this kinda like abortion??? I know the difference between humans and animals, but when do pets get rights? Many of our pets we poisoned recently, but pets are considered to be objects you own, not living family members as most good pet owners believe they are.

I live in Southeastern Virginia. There are TONS of deer here, and this season has already started out HORRIBLE with ticks... Just walking him in normal grass infests him with ticks. I'll say, since March, I have had to pull atleast 3 ticks off him EVERY day... I was at the dog park today and was talking to some of the people there, and someone recommended I get him vaccinated for Lymes disease. Is this really necessary? And do they really have a vaccine? (do humans have this vaccine as well?) (FYI: my dog is on flea, mosquito, tick and heartworm preventative- ie. Revolution. he has not had a single flea on him! )

I have noticed that after I put flea & tick prevention drops on my dogs (they both have black coats) that a white substance (sort of looks like powder) appears at the tips of their hairs almost immediatly...even before the substance has fully disbursed. Are these the flea eggs and larve or something else?

He has been constipated lately... he used to go almost every day, but now is going every other day... (this has been happening for about 8 days)... Today I inspected his feces and it was VERY strange. It looked normal on the outside. But when i actually tried to separate it, it was hard, and the inside was very dry... it was basically the same consistancy has if you were to take dry kibble and mash it up... like very fine, dry, crumbs, all caked together.

what do you think?

I don't know how or when it happened, unfortunately. And I don't have the tooth. It is one on the small two front teeth. He is a chocolate lab.

Will it grow back? Will he need medication? He doesn't seem to complain over it, but I am a bit worried..

I posting a question on here about my mastiff being sick last week. well I took him to the vet and they did all kinds of tests and the only thing they found was a bacterial infection. I was wondering we put him on purina one lamb and rice dry dog food saturday and then wednesday he got deathly ill and almost died. He was pooping blood and vomiting but the vet took care of him and he is doing better. He is drinking water and eating broth and baby food right now until he is better. could that dog food of caused it? I looked on the recall list and its not on there, is there a way I could get the food tested? is there somewhere I could send it to be tested? I am going to put him on an all natural dog food when he gets well enough to eat so I wont ever have to go through this again.

My Labrador/Goldenretriever Puppy is now 4 months old we've been doing everything we read in books or heard from our vet to keep her from doing her business in the house. Everything from catching her in the act, telling her no and taking her to the "Potty Area", to confining her to a smaller area so she doesn't get a chance to look for a good spot.
what should i do, i am getting desperate cuz i heard that dogs that are over 4 months old, continue on with their bad habits and wont ever learn to not potty in the house.

My 4 month old Jack Russel is on Science Plan food (the expensive stuff lol) He doesn't really like it I don't know any other puppy foods thats good for a small young dog. I prefer complete food but I dont know if its safe to put him on adult food yet or keep hunting because he is loosing his appitite. Also I am not feeding him on left overs or too many treats so I'm not sure why he isn't eating!

We have a 4 year old catahoula leopard that we adopted a year ago. We were told by the shelter that she was spayed and that she got along with other dogs. A year later, we have found out that she is neither spayed nor gets along with other dogs. (We were embarrassed at the vet to find out she wasn't spayed.) Needless to say, she is getting spayed next week. However, she is very aggressive towards other dogs to the point of being dangerous. She has NEVER been aggressive toward people or our cat. Would training be effective in this situation? We would like to be able to take her for a walk without getting dirty looks from every one and take her to the park without fear of her hurting another dog.

I just saw someone answer another question by telling the person asking that if they aren't a "professional breeder," they should have their dog neutered. Most breeders I know are not all that "professional," even though they are showing and have been breeding for a long time. I don't see them educating themselves about genetics, testing their breeding stock (this is a toy breed I'm talking about), etc. Mostly, they are calling themselves "professional" and "ethical" because they show. What criteria would you use to describe a breeder as being professional?
