People who have no concept of breed standards or genetics are why there is such a variation in popular breeds like Jack Russells, Labs, Boxers, Dachshunds, Beagles, etc. Even so, every once in a while, a dog of even good breeding doesn't fit the mold of breed standard. Usually nothing wrong with the dog other than it does not need to be in the breeding population. Other than your dogs ears being erect (like a rat terrier), I could see your dog being a Jack Russell cross or one of improper breeding. Compare these photos....

I will tell you this, she is DEFINITELY at least PART Jack Russell. I have a Min Pin/Jack Russell mix and she looks like a Jack Russell, but may have some other breed mixed in with her (possibly rat terrier-they all look similiar). She's cute though and it's rude for those others to say she isn't....

That is a Rat Terrier, and yours should be called a Smooth Rat Terrier, but that is designated for the Smooth Fox Terrier, which your dog definitely is not.
Cutie!!

Looks like a Jack Russell to me. What trait makes you doubt its authenticity?

How big is she? If she's about 8-12 pounds then I'd say Rat Terrier. They are great little dogs!
