I posting a question on here about my mastiff being sick last week. well I took him to the vet and they did all kinds of tests and the only thing they found was a bacterial infection. I was wondering we put him on purina one lamb and rice dry dog food saturday and then wednesday he got deathly ill and almost died. He was pooping blood and vomiting but the vet took care of him and he is doing better. He is drinking water and eating broth and baby food right now until he is better. could that dog food of caused it? I looked on the recall list and its not on there, is there a way I could get the food tested? is there somewhere I could send it to be tested? I am going to put him on an all natural dog food when he gets well enough to eat so I wont ever have to go through this again.

Most likely was the dog food. Try finding all natural brands of dog food, and when you are in a pinch cook some old fashion rice with some chicken broth. Its very good for the dog and its good tasting too. Eggs are another food safe for pets if you are afraid of the dog food. My girlfriend used to have a bull mastiff, they are one huge dog. I'm glad I don't have to feed him. Good luck and I hope your dog stays well.
They are very nice dogs.

I would not trust ANY dog food on the shelves these days regardless if they are on the list or not. New foods are added to the list daily. Purina sucks anyway and is bottom of the barrle in quality. It defiently could be the food. The money you are trying to save in buying this cheap stuff is being spent at the vets office. Just spend the money for some higher quality food. The money you save in vet bills will pay for the better food 10 fold.

It could have been the dog food because they had a call back on dog food because some of the food had a bacteria in it and was killing or making dogs very ill.
