I have noticed that after I put flea & tick prevention drops on my dogs (they both have black coats) that a white substance (sort of looks like powder) appears at the tips of their hairs almost immediatly...even before the substance has fully disbursed. Are these the flea eggs and larve or something else?

I am using On the Spot (something like that). It is OTC. And, for the record, my dogs are fully vaccinated AND are on an organic all protien diet. When I put the drops almost immediatly this white powder pops out at the ends of their fur...very strange. Happened to both of my dogs both times I have used products like this (last time I used an all natural plant based one).

It would help to know what product you are using. My guess is likely an OTC product?

I use flea drops, but my dog is white so it wouldn't show anyway. It might be that a bit of the product is getting caught up in the fur as you lift the pipette away from the skin.It seems strange that it shows so soon after application.
Next time you visit your vet might be a good idea to mention it.

POISON! These products are pesticides and not only have an effect to the outside of your dog but the inside of your dog too.
Yah yah yah... I know everyone is doing it so it is OK...
We don't poison our dogs in the name of 'prevention'. We feed raw food, do limited vaccines and fleas and ticks are not interested in our healthy dogs so we don't have to poison them every 30 days.
