Giving your dog table scraps is very bad for him, probably worse than your alpo scare. All of the products that were suppose to be recalled were pulled off the shelf immediately. If you are still worried then I would just switch to a different brand. And as for the email, it was probably one of the chain emails that everyone and their mother gets and it just took awhile to get to you.

If you intend to feed your dog a home made meal go out and get information on what to put into the food to make it healthy. When we made our own dog food for the raw diet we included

Chicken, uncooked with skin on bone in
organ meats, liver heart etc
vegitables
fruits
hamberger
dog forget all the blood thats good for them too.
eggs
kelp

and thats only the parts I remember.

You could look at buying a raw diet prepackaged. In canada Mountain dog food is a good choice

thats what I feed my boys now
I am not sure in the USA but if you look up "Barf" (bones and raw food) or Raw feeding dogs on google/yahoo you will find a lot of information on it
Oirigen pet foods are a nice alternative to raw and they dont use wheat so there is no problem with the wheat glutten that is at the base of this scare.

you would be better off going with a holistic food . the fda is not telling us everything with the dog foods and now we have to watch everything . I have mine on holistic food and have had since all this mess started . I love my dog and dont trust commercial dog foods. good luck. and mj royal canin is tainted too they just recalled a bunch of food too .

Do you realize chickens and pigs have been fed this wheat gluten? Don't you people read or watch the news?

Yep, hog and chickens. They are claiming it is in such small doses they do not feel it will affect us. Personally, if it's killing dogs, why would I eat something that has been tainted with it?
