I work for a very reputable verterinary practice and like to think that all 5 doctors know what they are talking about. All I hear from breeders, competitors, and other people who think that their way is the only way is "this food is bad" or "if you do this or that, then you are doing the wrong thing". Well, I will be the first person to agree that all grocery store brand foods are crap, but Science Diet, Eukanuba, and Purina One and Pro Choice are all fantastic foods with fantastic diets. Just because it cost a thousand dollars and has some fancy smancy name doesn't make it good. And the people who feed raw meat diets are just looking for trouble. I worked for 6 yrs for a certified veterinary dentist so I know first hand what the raw meat diets will do to your pets teeth--sooner or later they will be eating can food or baby food only because all their teeth are going to rot out.

I bought a puppy from the petstore over a year ago. She is a purebred Jack Russell Terrier. I wanted to register her as AKC, and possibly breed her later. I noticed on the AKC site that the parents and litter have to be registered in order to have her registered and have paperwork. I only have the paperwork from the petstore stating she is purebred. Is there any other way to register her or am I out of luck?

We recently got a german shepherd mix puppy about 6 months old. She is too rough in "play biting" my shi tzu and I'm afraid the shih tzu will get hurt. What can I do other than say "No". Is a muzzle the answer for short term use? Thanks for helping me out.

Not so long ago my dog started having problems wit his left leg.. hes a medium size dog.. he was limping so we took him to the doctor and the doctor mentioned that he needed surgery because his ligaments were broken.. the surgery is 1000 and something dollar which at the time and even now we dont have.. He also said that if he wasnt put through surgery his other legs bcuz of the weight put in them could also become afftected. we were worried but all of a sudden he was out there running and hes leg was perfectly normal so we thought the doctors made a mistake but today he woked up even worst than before with his left let very messed up and limping very bad and even havin trouble sitting down.. what can i do for it to get better? should i get vitamins? what do you think this is? in your opinion? or should i take him to the doctor again to see if its dat.. what can i do.. it hurts me to my dog like that.

I've had a dog when I was 7, but it ran away and my parents blamed me for not taking care of it right and I've had a cat, but didn't want it so I gave it back. My parents would never trust me and I know I have commitment issues. I don't know why I got a cat (i don't like them), but I miss my first dog and my parent's still don't think I didn't want it in the first place. I tried to explain to my mom that I want a goldie again, but she won't believe or trust me! Help, I want one really bad!

I dont understand this. I bought a perfectly healthy pup from a pet store. He is 2 years old now and he is one of the best dogs Ive met. Ive been to that pet store many times. All of the puppies are well groomed and are clean. Yea, there are a few timid ones and a few mean/hyperactive ones but most are perfectly active, compassionate, and playful with the other dogs. The store will let you hold a puppy and they have rooms around the store that you can go in and play with them. My question is why do people say that ALL pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills? Yea I know they get some but not all of them. Also they say to NEVER buy from a pet store, adopt, buy from a breeder, or somethin. I just dont understand. Also is it just me or do people need to shut thier freaking mouths about this pet store issue?

We have allot of land, and we're pretty far from the road. My Dog is free to run around where ever she wants during the day. She will sometimes go into the road, and I can't be there to tell her no, as its to far away. I also don't know when she will go into the road so I can wait around and follow her out there. Also I can't put up a fence and can't use the shock collar, and probably wouldn't unless I tried it out on myself first. Is there another way to stop her from going into the road here at the house? Thank You

My doggy will be seven years old in June and my mom just recently noticed a lump about an inch and a half in diameter on his right side by his leg. He's a beagle and is suprisingly big. He has a strangly big rib cage I don't know if that makes a difference. Any ideas on what this could be? We plan on taking him to the vet later this week.

I have a deaf 10 month old Bull Terrier Mix puppy and he won't stop biting me. He isn't trying to be mean, he just uses biting as a means of playing. He obviously doesn't respond to "no" so any ideas on how to get him to stop would be great!

I have adopted a dog who have the last stage of heart mur mur, i did not have much information of his history except that he had stay in a pet hotel for a year & he had suffer from kennel cough once. His owner & foster is not aware of his illness until i adopted him. He is an active dog & eat a lot. in fact more than he should so its not noticeable that he is not well except from coughing which they thought is normal. i have spend thousand of dollar but none vet could do anything to improve or stablize him. From Dec till now, he have been in & out of hospital every week. Usually is fluid in lungs, usually they increase the dosage of lasix, or fluid outside lungs which they will use an absortion pad n place at his body. oNce they got to drain out the fluid. I was told that his heart size is very big now which causing him difficult in breathing. There is no improvement or even stablize from any vet i went. Recently they suspect that he have a sensitive throat & might be suffering from asthma. Now he relying of lasix which im aware too much of it will damage his kidney. once he was given 3/4 tablet 3 times a day, recently my vet had change his medical after taken over by another vet.

Previously (2 weeks ago)
1) Norvasc 5mg 1/8 tablet once daily
2) lanoxin 0.0625 1/2 tablet twice daily
3) Atenolol 50mg 1/8 tablet twice daily
4) lasix 40mg 3/4 tablet 3 times daily
5) Forterkor 5mg 1/2 tablet once daily
6) Vetmedin 2.5mg 1/2 capsule twice daily

Now (from 1 week ago)
1) Norvasc 5mg 1/8 tablet once daily
2) vibravet 100mg 3/4 tablet twice daily
3) Atenolol 50mg 1/8 tablet twice daily
4) lasix 40mg 1/4 tablet twice daily
5) Forterkor 1/2 tablet once daily
6) Vetmedin 2.5mg 1/2 capsule twice daily
7) Theophylline 250mg 1/4 tablet twice daily

No improvement still from my dog, please advise which should be done or its there any specialize vet in heart mur mur in singapore
