My basset hound (which pretty much eats everything anyway and never bother her) over a week ago devoured a plant over at my friend's house. We didn't realize it until days later when she found the almost entirely empty pot! It was a Magenta Dracaena plant. I have no idea what type that is, I'm not a plant person. She was moping around all last week and slowly got back to her self but then yesterday got really mopy again and this morning was acting very weird. Was standing in the corner, almost like she was going to throw up. I am waiting to hear from the vet but does anyone know about this plant and/or if it is toxic for pets? Should I be worried? She is drinking water and eating dry food still. Nothing ever takes her appetite away. Any help would be great!

I have always had large dogs and love them, but I am considering getting a smaller breed. Are there any that aren't instinctively hyper and yappy? It seems like all the ones i've seen are pretty high strung. Thanks!

We are considering buying a doberman pup. The breeder is selling them without papers. She has both of the parents that are AKC registered. They are only 4 wks old right now, and she will let them go to new homes at 8 wks. IF BOTH PARENTS ARE REGISTERED, WHY WOULD SHE BE SELLING THEM WITHOUT PAPERS?
(she told us it was just so they could not be used for breeding)

I know that he ate grass the other day and the only reason dogs would do that is if they dont feel well. So he finally threw up today. But should I feed him today? Or even give him water?

I'm worried about my dog. He's a toy poodle, about 13 years old, and weighs in at about 16 pounds. A few days ago, he got into some chocolate and started throwing up, so I took him to the vet. Ever since then, he's been acting strange. He hasn't been eating his dinner, he refuses treats, he relieves himself in the house, and has trouble going up the steps. Is he still getting over being sick from the chocolate, or is it something else? Should I take him back to the vet?

I heard that purebred have genetic problems, but shelter dogs usually have behavior problems.

Thanks

One patch on each side - this is not the area he lays on. He seems otherwise "normal", happy, playful, eating. He does not itch it nor does it seem to bother him.

Including the one I just asked? Why do you all keeping asking these three questions?
What should I name my dog? (would you let someone name your kid?)
How can I housetrain my dog? (read up on dogs before you get one)
How do I get mom/dad to let me have a pet? (you cant, wait till they offer or wait till you are old enough to have your own place)

I am traveling tomorrow with my 3 month old puppy German Shepherd. He is too big to fit as a carry on so I have to put him in the belly of the plane. I am a little worried, I want to make sure he is okay. Does anyone have any experience what the procedure is?

We have a doberman and a min pin both just 1 year old.

We leave them home alone during the day, we have a fairly big garden and they have free roam, they seem perfectly happy, but they chew EVERYTHING!!

They've totally destroyed a water feature, chewed through all the outdoor cabling, chewed the edging, chew chew chew!!
When they're in the house they chew anything they can get hold of when we're not looking!

How can we stop them from chewing everything?
I've tried giving them bones to keep them occupied but they just scrap over them!! And they don't seem interested in toys.

Help please??

My dog has an allergy to fleas and scratches. OK I KNOW I should take her to vets and get frontline, spot on and all that but I have tried and its expensive.

Now I am an outdoors person & have to permantly take anti histermine tablets as I get bitten so much.

My question is this. If I gave her half of one of my tablets would it help her as it certainly stops me scratching!

I just purchased a parrotlet this past Sunday and would really like her to feel comfortable with my family. I do get her to come out of the cage on my hand and she seems to like being hand fed. She tucks her head into her side is there any specific reason for this? I appreciate any help available.
Thank You so Much,
Kim
