I bought a 10 week old Beagle puppy this weekend and she really caught my eye because her coat is different than other Beagles' I've seen. It's mostly white with big brown spots, like a cow. Every other Beagle I've seen is mostly all black and and tan. I bought her at a pet shop and she came with papers saying she is purebred...is there a possibility that she's not? Or is she just unique? Is there any way for me to find out? Thanks!

I needed a dog to be very social, good with a family and small children, and easy to train as i wanted to take this dog almost everywhere i go...
I also wanted a puppy and a breed that was most favorable to my needs. - i know all dogs in a breed are not the same, but i didnt want to take the risk and get a dog that i would have to give up.

Shelters couldn't positively tell me what breed their dog really was. So i opted-out and got a dog from a breeder, i really wanted to rescue a dog, but i couldn't afford the risks. What do you think??? Should people with such needs not go to a shelter?

What is next? Next it is our food supply! Also did you know that some of the bad dog food made it into hog feed? So we'll eventually be subjected to the same demise as our pets.

Is it absolutely necessary that a person obtain canine liability insurance for the Pit Bull breed? And if so, where do you get it? And what do you do if they're not your dogs but temporarily living on your property?

Unfortunately AB 1634 has passed through the Business and Professions Committee on a vote of 8 to 2. As you know, this legislation if passed will make it almost impossible to breed quality dogs and cats in California and effectively eliminate shows and competitions in our state. It will also have a devastating effect on working and service animals.
I will forward information as it becomes available. It is likely
that to have any chance to defeat this legislation we will have to put aside any differences and also to commit not only time but also financially to help defeat this flawed piece of legislation. AB 1634 has tremendous backing by the Animal Rights movement and they have a tremendous amount of funds (hundreds of millions) to help push things through.
Now that this has passed in ca Peta will be bring this to a state near you, they don't want one person to own a pet, they see it as slavery, they are not a pro pet they are anti pet, glad you donated !!

My dog just had his annual check up. All his Tests came back Great accept his Urine, they found Protein in it. The vet gave me a ratio of 0 to 3 Plus . My dog's was a 2 Plus. In one week they are going to test his Urine again to see. Of Course I am a bit worried. I need to know what may be causing this protein in his urine. His Blood Work was Perfect.
He eats Solid Gold Dry Dog Food, occasionaly eats Vegtables and Carrotts, and chews the occasional Marrow bone. He eats very healthy. He is soon to be ten years old.

Why is there protein in his Urine, any help will be much appreciated

i am thinking of letting my dog stay outside during the day while i am at work, so she doesnt have to stay indoors in a hot house. i am only gonna do it for the summer. i am going to buy a big kennel and run with proper base so she will be safe. do you think this sounds like a good idea, and will she adapt to it ok.

p.s we have a new dog arriving in a couple of weeks so she will have a friend.

I have a long haired Chihuahua and when I let him outside to play, he can get soooo dirty, especially when it has been raining. He loves his play time. Some say that they should only be bathed once a month, but I don't think I could wait that long between baths. Also, what is the best shampoo? I hear many people say baby shampoo, but I am not sure.

I'm taking my female boxer dog to my local vet for treatment of urinary incontinence. First I provide them with a urine sample, then hopefully they will be able to treat her. I've been looking online to give me an idea of how she can be treated; in the eventuality that she is prescribed phenylpropanolamine, and hopefully I've spelt that correctly, how effective is it, will it be safe, and how much is it likely to cost me? Grateful for any advice on this, as am now desperate!! Thanks.

I just had my puppy laser spayed Saturday and noticed after she completed woke up she began to hold up one of her legs up while laying down and when she starts to walk she would stop and start to lick herself in that area while crying I took her back to the vet and he gave her some antiboitics to take at home and told me if she continues with the same behavior the next morning to bring her back I'm beginning to think that she may have some nerve damage from the laser Should I have to pay the vet to correct the problem and is the problem fixable and what should I do This is the first time something like this has happened to one of my pets

We took the kids to maybe get a puppy and this pet shelter place advertises as givng away the pets and mentions a 50 dollar donation. So when my wife tries to leave they demand the 50 dollars. If you have to give the money, isnt that considered buying the dog and not a donation? We bought it because we promised the kids they can have him but why say donation when its not?

I have a female Corgi mix. I've been applying Frontline Plus to her. She's on the correct dosage. The one for 23 to 40 lb dogs. She weighs about 30 lbs. I'm still noticing a few fleas on her. Why does she still have fleas? Is there anything else that I can put on her to get rid of the fleas? I'm really worried about having fleas in my house. Thanks.

Last night she was running around the couch and let out a little yelp and started limping (her right hind led). Nothing in her paws and no cracked nails. She lets me touch her leg with no nipping at me but she flinches a little. This morning the joint that pokes out toward her back side looks like it could be swollen, but I can't tell and it doesn't feel feverish. She doesn't whine at all and is wagging her little tail and eating normal, but just doesn't want to put weight on her little leg. Any thoughts as to what it might be? And how long would you personally wait to see if it goes away on it's own before taking her to the vet? I called the vet to ask and they said they can't tell me when, it's up to me. She's a mini doxie.

It's been a week since my black lab swallowed a small superball. His appetite and bowel movements have been normal. Yesterday, he began gagging and eating grass. Could this be related to the superball? Everything else seems okay, including his energy.
