Dogs - April 2007

I had a muzzle on my pup just because we dont know if he wants to hurt or play with the goats. We dont want to take a chance even though he dont growl at them.
The goats got put up so someone took the muzzle off him. Chris said to put it back on. I know I used to be scared of pitbulls myself before I did research, so I put the muzzle back on, very tight he couldn't even stick his tongue out.
one of the goats got out and my pup was chasing her. The goat ran around his daughter, so my pup ran around her chasing the goat. They were all trying to catch him. My son (9 years old) went to grab the little girl to get her out of the situation. When Chris caught my dog, through him down sat on top of him and punched him in the ribs 3 times as hard as he could until my pup vomited. then swung him by his collar. My dog never even touched the girl and was muzzled. My pup is 8 months old. He is house broke and knows 6 commands.
He has not played since and has pucked 3 more times.

I am supposed to be getting a Yorkie puppy in about a month or so. I was wondering what names anyone likes in particular for a GIRL dog. So far, I like Summer, Brandy, and Candace. Also, I was wondering who has one and what your experiences were with housebreaking and basic training. Lastly, are you glad that you decided to get a Yorkie? Are you satisfied with him or her? Haha sorry for all of the questions i just want to make sure I am making the right decision!

Oh no, whats wrong with my dog? Soft poopu, throwes up and fell over!?
breed- irish terrier
age- 14? 15?

earlier today wen i took her out to use the bathromm, she peed and went very soft mushy poop, and later , she went even mushier. then she threw up on the rug- then she threw up on the rug 2 more times! i put her on the leash and took her out to the veranda, where she threw up once more! then she stagered a few steps and fell over, like fainted, but was breathing and blinking. she got up a minute later. i gave her water, shes kind of drinking it. whats wrong with her? please help!!! and also, how to clean it
the vomit is like clearish bile.

People breed their dog, for whatever reason.. First litter, & they are at YA asking ' how do I know she's pregnant ' ? ' how do I know she's in labour ' ? & questions related to breeding, & whelping, raising the puppies etc. So it is apparent that they have done no research at all, & waited til the final moment to try to find out what they should be doing. This also suggests that they don't have a breeder or a mentor that they are working with.

So when the puppies are ready to go, since they know absolutely nothing at all from breeding to whelping, to worming, & vaccinations, when the puppies should go to homes.. How is it that they are grading their litter ?? Not even grading in regards to show/pet .. How are they deciding which puppies should go to which homes, offering help to buyers? & which people that come to buy a puppy, should or shouldn't even own a dog ? Are they any better than the petstore if they are just selling to the first person that comes along with cash ??

If you cant register dogs who parents wernt, who registerd the ones that were? and why were they? why were they so speacial, and cant people lie, and other people will just give you a number so you can register? jeeze? how can they so blindly register them?

If you want to register your puppy with a kennel club, and the parents were never registered, how would you do so? I know that the A.K.C. and the U.K.C. as well as many other kennel clubs, will not allow you to register unless you have three full generations of pedigree. What I'm trying to get at is, how on earth do you get papers for a pure bred when the breeders never registered their Dam and Sire because they did not get into the kennel club scene? Cause I want to register my pup,and get into the clubs. I know his lines, but they are not registered dogs.

Why do people think it is just fine to beat a dog?? I've seen a few answers on here that said the owner should beat the dog and it was a serious answer!!!!. I even seen someone say kill the dog for misbehaving!!!! If I ever seen someone beat or kill a dog I'd for sure turn them in to the authorities!!!!

Sometimes when my dog gets with other dogs (usually females) he behaves very well. But when he gets with other male dogs, especially ones that are head strong, he fights with them. How can I stop this behavior?

I think my dog is a Lesbian.

I really want a labrador but my parents don't want pets they had a dog about 20 years ago and wasn't the best experience. I would look after it fully with my siblings but there not budging.

Hi I need help, I have an 8 week old Jack Russell puppy, and everytime he does something naughty my Dad hits him. Once he started chewing the furniture and my Dad hit him and my dog yelped. Ive tried to tell my Dad you should never hit a dog and explained why but he still continues to do so.
Please please help, I want my dog to have the best possible life!
