I had a muzzle on my pup just because we dont know if he wants to hurt or play with the goats. We dont want to take a chance even though he dont growl at them.
The goats got put up so someone took the muzzle off him. Chris said to put it back on. I know I used to be scared of pitbulls myself before I did research, so I put the muzzle back on, very tight he couldn't even stick his tongue out.
one of the goats got out and my pup was chasing her. The goat ran around his daughter, so my pup ran around her chasing the goat. They were all trying to catch him. My son (9 years old) went to grab the little girl to get her out of the situation. When Chris caught my dog, through him down sat on top of him and punched him in the ribs 3 times as hard as he could until my pup vomited. then swung him by his collar. My dog never even touched the girl and was muzzled. My pup is 8 months old. He is house broke and knows 6 commands.
He has not played since and has pucked 3 more times.

I was not there my sister my niece, my nephew, my son and that Chris with his family. Chris' wife is friends with my sister. I was going off when my son brought our pup to me. My son was in tears. I took the muzzle off him right then. My family that saw it all said the same story that my son said. of what happend. I left with my pup. Because everybody just kept saying he was just scared and to drop it. I wanted to kill the guy I dont think I could of talked to him at that point. I was so upset I was shaking. Chris and his family do alot for my sisters kids and there kids are best friends.
So I just left and babied my pup. it sucks I wont beable to trust my pup now around stranges after we have worked so hard for him to be a good minding sweetheart.
I have not been able to sleep because of this and I dont care if my sister gets mad at this point. I want to make that guy pay. It just happend on Sunday. My son was still upset about it today.

He did puke with the muzzle on because when I took of the muzzle it was all slim. I am just lucky he didn't drowned with his own puke. The thought of him puking and it not being able to come out right just makes it even worse.

Chris is paying the vet bill. I would of loved to turn him in, but My sister got are 65 year old dad involved and he is very upset that we are fighting. My sister also got my 12 year old niece not talking to my son and I. So I am just going to leave this alone now. since noone is talking in our family. Someday she might find a special place in her heart for a animal. Then she might understand better. I just dont want my dad upset. He knows Chris was wrong.

Call the police. Most states have laws against animal abuse. I sure hope you yelled at that guy. I sure hope you took your pup to the vet, that guy could have broken some ribs and your pup could be hurt inside where no one can see it.
Just out of curiosity, where were you when this guy was punching a helpless puppy? Why weren't you shoving him off your baby?
I did forget to say that your dog could suffer from all kinds of mental problems because of this. Watch for his behaviour to change. I don't think there is any way he will ever be the same dog as he was before you took him over there. If this guy was a total stranger to him, if this was the first time that they had met, your baby could be petrified of strangers from now on, to the point of biting them if they get too near or too near your home or you.

That was wrong of Chris to do that. First off their muzzle isn't suppost to be on that tight, he should be able to drink water. It sounds like you did everything right on your part. I would consider filing charges. That is good you are sticking up for your family memebr. It dosen't matter what kind of dog it is he would of did it regardless. Did he see the whole situation or just assume your dog was going after his daughter. I know he was upset but should have stopped instead on . continuing. I would take your dog to the Vet and make sure it stays inside, no telling what he might do. Is Chris a neighbor? I feel for you, and wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Sounds like you had it all under control without Chris's help. Your poor pup, hope he will be ok. Unfortunely, if you call the spca they will blame the dog because of chasing goats 9that si what chris will probably tell them) I would go get a restraining order on chris and his little girl to keep them away and file charges. I would do the restrianing order first to protect you and your pup. Give your puppy a smooch from all of us here. Why didn't you go running over there atleast yelling for him to stop, istead of watchin? I would have been up in his face in a heartbeat. Please take your dog to the Vet ASAP , he has got to be hurting bad.

Even tho you say Chris is now paying the vet bills (as well he should!) and it is causing dischord in the family, I would still call the SPCA. This is an abuse case, and even tho buddy is "making up for it" (HAH!) by paying for the vet, he needs to be reported if only to prevent him from getting a dog of his own! This does not sound like a man that should be allowed to have his own animals.
While you're at it, you may want to consider having him pay for the trainer sessions you may now need to help you deal with whatever (fear based) agression develops in your dog.
I probably wouldn't have said much the day of the incident either for fear of assaulting the rat-bast%^d myself, but now that you've had some time to cool down make sure you do everything you (legally) can for your pup.

its disgusting personally I'd want to beat his brains out but that wouldn't solve anything have you stopped to think that if he could do this to a puppy what else is he capable of, they do say if someone can hurt an animal its only a matter of time before they turn on a defenseless human.
I agree with the others report him to the authorities and be blow-ed to having him as a "friend" get your pup to the vets, if he has broken some ribs its possibly to late and they will have started to heal but the poor little mite may have other internal injuries that need attention and if you don't have the money ask "chris the pup beater" for it and if he wont pay someone in authority will sure has hell will make him pay

Gee... What did you say when all this went down? I think that you should have said something right at that moment.. I know you were probably stunned when it happened, sometimes things happen quick and it's hard to realize what the heck is going on, and did they really even do that?
Who is Chris to you?? Is it possible that he feels like a complete idiot for over reacting like he did? Or do you think he feels justified in what he did?
I have to say, since you had your dog muzzled, and were supervising the whole thing.. That Chris is definitely in the wrong..
I don't know, this is a hard one.. Chris was wrong to do what he did, but with his kid there, I can see people being worried, with the reputation that pitbulls have.. Does he know your dog well enough to know that he wouldn't hurt his daughter?
I am going to have to say you should talk to Chris about the whole incident and see if he apologizes, offers to pay to have your dog checked by the vet etc.
I mean if you call and have him charged or something, obviously you and he won't be friend or whatever you are.. Is he related in a way that it is going to be super uncomfortable having to be around with family etc?
Sorry.. I don't know, he was wrong and he over reacted.. But I don't know how it will affect the future with him.. I mean if he is doing this to dogs, is he someone you would have to worry would come back later and finish your dog off?
I would make it clear to him tho, if he ever did anything like that again, you would be forced to call the police...

Being a Pit Bull owner is a huge responcibility. Not only to the public, who all seem to have a scarry steriotype of the breed; but to the dog itself. A Pit wants to please, be praised and shown lots and lots of attention. What ever it takes to get the attention it craves is what it will do. If it gets the idea that being a mean dog is what you want it'll give you that. If, on the other hand it recieves strict stern reprimands and is made to mind? It will. Just to get you to love it.
I really feel your pain on this one. It seems as if Chris may be a little over protective of the young'un and perhaps more than just a little ignorent about Pits. When enough time has gone by try sitting down with him and talking about the responcibility that you have and introduce him to the breed.
He may well wind up going out and buying one himself. No one messes with a kid that a Pit Bull loves, if the dog don't want them to.

OK so you no Cris was wrong but you have to remember that some species of dogs are bread to take down other animals. and some are bread to herd, and some are bread just to show. it is a basic instinct for the pit bull and many others to take down animals, i have seen a pit lock its jaws and believe me if its a goat, pig, or human its going to be bad and i mean life threading. so i know if it was my child and or my animal and the puppy was going after "muzzle or not" i would do every thing i could to make the dog Submit. a 8 mo pit is just as dangerous as a 5year old.
this bread is not bread to herd i would be very care full maybe call the Dog whisper or email him for some tips or additional training. Good luck

This is ridicules. this clown has no understanding of animals and has obviously heard all the bad hype about pit bulls. Pits are what you make them. I have a pit mix that is a sweetheart. She is a good little dog. Your pup was only playing and running around and not harming anybody. But you can't blame poor Chris either, you see, some men feel threatened by anything that may out smart them so their natural instinct is to attack and try to kill it.

Who is Chris? Is he someone you could never invite over again? The guy is a psycho. Someone should muzzle him, throw him down and punch him in the ribs until he pukes.
Take your dog to the vet. File charges of animal abuse with the police against Chris.

Why didn't you protect your puppy !@? I would've asked him why he did that! Ask him if he even has a brain, I mean a dog muzzled? I know what I'm saying might be harsh but I love animals very much... I think you should bring your puppy to the vet. Your puppy could die due to respiration problems and a broken ribcage. Please I am begging you to rush him to the doctor and if there is, bring him to a psychiatrist for animals or something. Please remember that your dog grew up with you witch makes him a dog thats not easily aggrivated. Now that your dog has been "punched" he may not interact with you anymore. Give your puppy love! This might be the only way for your puppy to restore his playfulness ... I hope I had been help today. (Remember: Your dog loves you, so love him back, I know you will !) =D!
