It's been a week since my black lab swallowed a small superball. His appetite and bowel movements have been normal. Yesterday, he began gagging and eating grass. Could this be related to the superball? Everything else seems okay, including his energy.

This ball should have passed by now. It is very possible that it is lodged in the stomach or the intestine and causing a blockage. This is very serious and could cause his death. It may need to be surgically removed.. If he was my dog I would have had him at the vet already. Please take him to the vet ASAP!!! Good luck!!!!

You really need to get to a Vet ASAP! Superballs don't break down. Labs are notorious for swallowing things they shouldn't.

I have a lab so I know where your coming from, he eats everything. Take him to the vet and he will x-ray to see where its at, but don't worry to much I am sure it will probably pass naturally. After a week the ball is probably well on the way out, my lab took almost two weeks to pass my daughter glove. I would worry if he stops eating, drinking, pooping and becomes lethargic. Good Luck with the poop patrol :)

I think it would've passed by now. The vet is the best answer. My Golden Retriever ate one and it lodged in his intestines. He ate grass and vomited too. Surgery and $600 later I had one very nasty looking superball souvenir.

It will never pass. It may kill him. There's also a chance it will not. How old is he? Could he survive surgery? We had an old beagle who ate a steel wool pad. Vomiting it would be too much, would take a long time to break down and pass. Operation would probably kill him. He lived about six weeks before starting to show signs of problems, and we put him down.

Take him to the vet. He may not be able to pass it and need surgery.
