Dogs - March 2007

I have the sweetest pit bull but everyone is always starting trouble with us over her. i would never have a mean dog and am sick of hearing crap about it what can I do to get people to either back off or stop stereo typing this breed.

he is a 6month old maltese and is quite active the vet said the surgery would only take 20 minutes and now he wont come out of his room and usually he is up and about what should i do he is snoring loud and skakes every few minutes im very worried

I just saw an amazingly adorable dog today.
I picked it up and it was very light boned.
It's nature was very playful and sweeeeeeeeet!!! It gave everyone kisses.
Now this dog was about 9 inches tall, and looked very similar to a Japanese Spitz but was completely black, which I think doesn't happen for a Japanese Spitz.
It was not a Pomeranian or Long hair chihuahua either.

ANY ideas what it could have been?

I looked up some toy breeds but could not find one looking like this.

The owner brought it over from england, and it was fully grown.

Help?

I would like a cute dog for my kids, one that doesn't grow very big so I figured a Maltese of some kind would be great.

he has a blanket on the floor. we just got him and as i watch him, he doesn't seem to be shivering. if it rains, it rains very little.

Well, my dog is also a purebred. My mom really wants to get our dog fixed, but i've said many times that he's young and has a long way to go. At least give it a try and if it doesn't work out then i guess we can just get him fixed. I've viewed how much Chinese Shar-pei's can cost. And it's a lot. I also understand that to become a breeder, you can't "just" be in it for the money. I live in west TN and am wondering how i can find a nearby breeder.

How do I get my dachshund to trust me. He is about a year old I just got him for my birthday in march about a 2 weeks ago. He was running the streets his family just left him. They must have beat him because he always thinks I am going to hit him and I want him to understand I am not going to do that. I am not sure if their is anyway to make him really trust me. I have a 5 month old German Shepherd puppy. Tonight I took him to my warehouse when I was doing some work. On my way back he threw up in the back of my cargo van. I think it is just the motion and noise the van makes, he is fine in my SUV. I have a 2 hour trip to the breeders house tomorrow and don't have time to stop by the vets. Is there anything I can get for him that will help with that? Will he grow out of it?

my friend wants to adopt her first dog ever. She is a small person who is not very strong so like a big strong dog like a lab (that will pull her arms off on walks) would not be a good idea I think.

HELP!!! I have a 4yrs old female half golden retriever half malamute. She is the sweetest dog ever and has never chewed anything up. Even as a puppy I always thought she was a little odd for never having the urge to gnaw on things. I woke up two days ago and she had got into the trash and it was everywhere! She has never done this before! Then this morning I woke up and she had chewed up a coat, a pair of shorts, 3 shoes, My father's wallet and even his credit cards, and 2 of her toys!!! I don't know what has gotten into her! I am really amazed at her behavior, she doesn't act sick? I don't get it?
