What do I have against Pit Bulls....
ROTTEN OWNERS!
Chained to tree's, fought, singled out by the press! A pit Bull attack would come before Anna nicole any day on the news.
Start holding the owners resposible. Make owning one require proper fencing and require backround checks, and maybe even special permits.
The dog is not the problem.

Having anything against pitbulls is retarded, it seems like you are not one of those people, however it seems like some of the other people who have already answered are. They are ignorant. I am part of a council called UBBC (United Bully Breed Council) in Texas, we try to get the facts about all dogs out there. So the people who say "all pit bulls are bad" realize how ignorant they are. Number one the media plays on the "pit bull" attacks. I can send links to many news casts that say Pitbull attack, and when it's not a pitbull, It says, dog attack. Number two you can look at the numbers of dogs bites reported, number one is not pitbulls, it's rots. (And I have nothing against rots.) Number three every ten years there is a "bad breed", it's the popular large dog of the times. The Dobermans the Rots the Pits, ban any dog breed, someone will find a new favorite breed, those dogs will be overpopulated from irresponsible breeder and pet owners. There are not bad dogs, just bad owners. Anyone interested in fighting BSL and learning the true stories behind the pitbulls, e-mail me. Good Question!

My opinion on pitbulls is simple:

Any dog can potentially be aggressive. The problem with pitbulls is that they are physically capable of killing whereas most other dogs are simply not equipped with the strength necessary to rip the limbs off a child. I think it's terribly irresponsible to own a pitbull knowing how dangerous they can potentially be. Yes, it's usually the owner who is to blame for an aggressive dog. But any animal, because they are in fact animals, can snap over something we may not even understand. When a poodle snaps, someone needs a band-aid - when a pitbull snaps, someone needs an ambulance.

And, as we all know, it's usually drug dealers, inbred trailer trash and bullies who own pitbulls anyway. They are just insecure little boys who think owning a pitbull is going to somehow make them a tough guy. Pitiful.

I think pit bulls are one of the sweetest dogs out there, I also think that most people confuse other breeds for a pit bull when the get bit by a dog. The american staffordshire terrier, staffordshire bull terrier, and the boxer all look similar to someone who knows nothing about breeds. The dogs that bite could also be a mixed breed of any of the above mentioned dog with any other breed. I think bad owners are to blame for dogs that bite. I have worked in a veterinary office and of all the vets I know they dislike/distrust the small/miniature breeds most as far as which breed bite most often.

OK, well, I'm wary of them, but ONLY because one bit my one-year old in the face. (He's fine but it was on his eyelid and was really scary)
I fault this mostly on myself, I don't think this is a good breed to have around babies/toddlers, because this particular dog was food aggressive and my son was trying to take her bone (this happened the day I adopted her from the humane society)
I also fault the humane society because I know a lot of them have a policy of not adopting pits to owners who have children under 10.
I think the breed is fine, but they are inbred quite a bit which can cause aggression and there are still people out there who breed them to be fighters, and these are the dogs people hear about.
I know many pits who are very loving and loyal dogs. I just won't get another until my son is much older, but I have no bias against them as a breed.

I am a groomer and Chihuahuas try to bite me all the time. I have never had a pit bull try to bite me. But people think its cute when there small dog does it. I have never even needed to put a muzzle on a Pit. I always ask the owner if their chihuahua needs a muzzle and most say yes. Isn't that cute? You can't even control your little 5 lb dog, yet their are cities and states that ban pits?!

It would come to your surprise and many others that Pitts are indeed not the most aggresive breed. In fact its been proven that chihuahuas are more vicious then a pitt. Pitts have been given such a bad reputation over the years and yes a lot of it has to do with cruel owners who think its cool to fight them and use them as an accesorie to cover up their cowardness.

I have owned and bred many Pitt bulls and I have to admit they are probably the biggest babies you will ever come across. I also had to deal with putting one down because this idiot decided to open our PRIVATE back gate that clearly said BEWARE OF DOG. My dog didnt know him and the man started to run. Unfortunately my dog wasnt going to let him get away with it and knicked his arm with his teeth. The man later tried brining us to court over it and because my dog was a pitt he had to be put down. I know I know...even though we had the signes it seems as if society doesnt care. If that was the case then they really ought to put child molesters on death row right?

I agree with you, people jump to conclusions without giving the poor animal a chance. Now yea there are some pitbulls out there that are mean but you have that with any type of dog or other animal, and nine chances out of ten it isn't there fault there mean. And its all in the way a dog is raised, weather it will be mean or not. Its wrong to try to make animals mean if you ask me.

I have nothing against pitbulls. They are agressive in nature however, but its how they are brought up by their owners. Because of their strength and how agressive they can be, ppl train them to be gaurd dogs and when a person gets attacked, the dogs cop it. Its hell upsetting. There is nothing i beleive wrong with the dogs, its just how they are trained/raised. Its like saying because most guys are agressive on the street, beat up ppl, rape girls and steal stuff that they should all be killed. hmmm not such a bad idea (jks). but i must admit if i was attacked by one i might be afraid of them 4 a while. just like i would be with any other animal.

There's no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad owner, if they attack someone, it's cause the dumb owner never thought to find out the little fact that these dogs need a high level of training, and they never bothered to do so.
Blame the dog? No, blame the owner instead.
