HE's? probably experiencing pre-male post-menopausal psuedo macho feelings.
Give him some time to get use to the added "lightness" concurring at his rear and in the meantime keep your leg away from him.

He should stay quiet for a day or so to let him recover from the anaesthetic. Keep him warm (even if the weather is warm he could get a chill from the anaesthetic) and if you can get him to a eat and drink a little, that will help, drinking is more important at this point. He shouldn't eat too much for today but tomorrow should be better and the next day and then he should be pretty much back to normal. Just keep an eye on him, the anaesthetic is tough on them.
You should be commended for doing the right thing and having him neutered.

The vet probably gave him some sort of sedative or anaesthetic, so he will probably be groggy for a while. Also, even if the surgery only lasted 20 minutes, that's got to hurt, so he may move a little gingerly for a few days.

You need to just leave him be. He’s probably just sore and scared from his experience. Even “simple” surgeries can be scary (ever had a tooth pulled?), and more so on animals because they don’t understand why they hurt or what happened.
He will probably not be himself for a few more days. He’s exhausted and probably just wants to rest. Please make sure he isn’t bothered, just quietly check in on him from time-to-time.
If he doesn’t improve at all by late tomorrow, give the vet a call.

I have all girl dogs. They are spayed and they all acted that way too. One of them stayed in the closet for a few days. I don't remember her shaking though. I would call the vet in the morning but I'm thinking it is probably just a side of effect of the drugs they gave him.

Congratulations on doing the right thing and getting him castrated. You've just prevented any number of unwanted puppies being born! He will probably be just fine in the morning but if he is unchanged, don't panic, call your vet and discuss it with him/her.

He just had surgery, he's obviously in pain. Maybe you need to be a little patient and give him time to recover. I don't think you'd be too active either if you had surgery, you know? Why would dogs be any different?

if he just got neutered today he might still be groggy from the anaesthetics. i remember when my puppy got neutered, he was very tired the whole rest of the day. give him a few days and he'll perk up :)
