her name, stay, come, lay down, stand up, and easy for pups that like to grap food and nip your hand (don'y give treat till its taken 'easy' are the needs of training.
Fun tricks are Leave It (which is in my basic main ones to) it is great for dogs who want to chase everything and if u drop food or some thing. Speak, rollover, Paw (easy to teach), shake head yes and no, crawl, hiding treat in ur hand and have dog paw ur hand for treat. treat on the nose and catch. I like the BANG ur dead trick.
and my dogs fav is more a game then a trick...FIND IT....we hide treats toys in the house or outside and have the dog search for it like (drug dogs)....the dogs love it. it lets them use thier noises and brains and it ends in food or play time when they find what ever they are looking for! great on rainy days!

Whatever you decide to teach your puppy to do, just remember to be patient with him/her. Repetition is a good way for a dog to learn a trick. When he/she does the trick praise him/her and give a small treat. Sit. Stay. Come. Lie Down. are the most important things to teach, in my opinion.
Have fun with your new puppy! :0)

oh here's a really useful trick- especially if you dont have a doggy door.
hang a little bell somewhere about 2 feet above the floor. everytime you bring your dog outside to use the potty, jingle the bell. your dog should get used to it and eventually , as it ages, it will ring the bell whenever it wants you to let it out.

In training remember to be very patient...they aren't going to learn everything in a day....be consistent...don't reward every trick they do unless they do it completely after they've learned and make sure to praise them a lot, that in itself is a reward to them....good luck
sit...get dogs attention hold treat in front, say sit..not repeatedly but a couple of times...slow and clear..and rest your hand on their backside and make them sit not too hard but firmly...do it a couple of times and always do it the same
lay down--usually easier if you say down...do it after you teach them to sit...have them sit and hold the treat to the ground a little bit in front of them...it'll take a couple of tries..if that doesn't work, try grabbing their front legs and guide them gently into a laying position.....make sure to reward for every good try...
roll over-- make them sit, lay down, and what worked for my dogs was making sure they saw the treat in your hand and bring around the side of their head and make them reach for it, then bring it all the way around and guide them to rollover..this one will take a little while but it works i promise
stay is a little harder...make them sit hold your hand in front of their face, palm open, tell them to stay, walk away little by little and everytime they get up tell them no, or make a "no" noise...make them start over again and again until they learn and you can walk away completely and they will still sit their until you tell them not to.
Blancing a treat on the noise....some dogs get this one and some don't...make them sit hold your hand on their muzzle and hold the treat on there..tell them to stay even after you have rmoved your hand, hopefully they will kinda toss it off and catch it
