I am trying to house break my 9 week old german shepherd pup that i got about a week ago. He seemed to be doing well at first. I take him out to potty about every hour. When he pottys outside i praise him and give him a treat. I know if I don't see him potty inside I am not to scold him because he won't know what he did wrong. However, he likes to be by my side at all times so I almost always SEE him go when he does his business inside. So well when I see him going potty inside I firmly say "No Pluto - we do not potty in the house" and proceeded to take him to his cage. Is this the right thing to do? Because since I have started it seems like he doesn't potty outside as well anymore. Also i wonder if he THINKS he is SUPPOSE to potty in the cage, because on numerous occasions he went potty as soon as he gots in the cage at night -right in front of me as to say "look ma, look what i did" I thought when being "crate trained" they learned to NOT potty in their cage. Suggestions Anyone???

My dog has mange and the mites have infested in her body and because the vet didn't catch it on time it has weakened her immune system, a tick burrowed in her ear and caused severe inflammation and we had an expensive surgery to fix it and now the other ear is swollen and we aren't sure if it's worth it to have surgery because she is so bad. The vet just gave us a medication that is supose to kill it from the inside out. Will her ear ever heal without surgery? We bathed her in medicated shampoo and we cleaned the house to rid it of the bugs. Now our other dog has it..and he is losing fur now too..WE DON't KNOW WHAT TO DO?

My 7 year old pug has been drinking an excess amount of water lately and this morning she started having this green pus in her eye. Her appetite is still the same, no vomiting or any other strange signs.

I own 3 of them! They are very loyal and have never caused me any trouble whatsoever. There was one incident where one of our wolf hybrids nearly killed the neighbor's Pit Bull. But the dog came onto our property so, It greatly changes the scenario. I will admit that these dogs are extremely powerful! But at the same time, I find them to be no different than any other dog. They have a true fear and respect of humans (At least the ones I have do). The person we bought the hybrids from called them "Tundra Shepherds". They are German Shepherd/Wolf mix.

We adopted our "Lexus" from an animal shelter and she has the look of a coyote and is very shy and timid. If there is a way to tell I would like to know.

My Chow is 3 1/2 years old and I love her very much. She was originally my exgirlfriend's dog and I adopted her fully about a year ago. As great as this dog has been to me, she's extremely aggressive to strangers and even my family. She has bit family members of my ex girlfriend and myself when we have caught her eating human food. I have learned to keep food completely away from her. I have also been to an obedience school with her and she is somewhat obedient, but still does what she wants most of the time. I have been able to live with her based on all this up until now. My Chow loves my new girlfriend of 8 months who is one of the few people she will be nice to. Recently though, my Chow bit my girlfriend for absolutely no reason. The Chow was sleeping near the fridge and my girlfriend closed the fridge door gently. This woke the dog up and after letting out a whimper, she attacked my gf without even making a sound. I'm absolutely torn and am considering putting her to sleep.

What could cause this? He has only done this one time. Should I take him to the vet? For about 5 minutes or so he was crying and shaking and could not walk! Could this be a reaction to a toxic substance? If so, how would explain that within 5 minutes or so he is playing and jumping around like nothing ever happened? I was really worried at first!

Could it still result in any medical problems? I normally feed him Authority (the dry kind.) Every now and then I buy a few cans of wet food to top his dry food as a treat. He would have only consumed two full cans of poisoned food. Could there be side effects even with such a small dosage? He's about 80 lbs, but still fairly young (only about 2 years old.) If I should worry, what type of signs should I look for that something is not right?

Latest news reports rodent poison is the culprit. Is it possible this is in dog biscuits and cat kibble produced by the same companies that are on recall list? I need 100% positive, not speculation.
