Could it still result in any medical problems? I normally feed him Authority (the dry kind.) Every now and then I buy a few cans of wet food to top his dry food as a treat. He would have only consumed two full cans of poisoned food. Could there be side effects even with such a small dosage? He's about 80 lbs, but still fairly young (only about 2 years old.) If I should worry, what type of signs should I look for that something is not right?

If your dog becomes lethargic
vomitting Diarrhea doesn't want to eat signs of weakness
If you see these symptoms take the dog to the vet.

I would take him to the vet....there is no way to really tell how much of the poison was in each can..he could have gotten none yet he could have gotten allot...It is my understanding that petco or someplace is paying for the VET bills even if you didn't get the food from there...search the web for it..you should find it...
good luck and I hope all ends up fine!

They say that it was rat poison and it causes kidney problems in the cats and dogs affected, and it also says that any amount is very toxic to the dogs. I think it would be a great question for your vet? Check out www.menufoods.com and see what they suggest. Your vet will most likely want to check your pet for any symptoms!

A bloodtest at the vets will tell you if there is any signs of kidney problems, if everything comes out okay you can relax and not worry anymore, that few dollars spent can really be worth peace of mind if it cme back negative

I'd take it to the vet, why take any chances? I've learnt with my dog that if something isn't right to take it to the vet early on or it may end up costing double later on even worse case may happen.

Take him to the vet tomorow, for a check-up to make sure he is okay. For now, use dry food.
My dog is only eating dry food.
