My 5month old Cocker Spaniel Lab x puppy is pretty disobedient when we ask her to 'come'. She will act like she didn't hear us and carry on doing her own thing.

At home, she is good, she will come when ever we ask, it's just that when we are out and she is off lead, say at a friends or dog exercise park, she wont come.

We use treats but she is still no interested. She knows exactly what the comand means, and she does it when she feels like it.

Apart from that she is well behaved.

What can we do to get her to come when we ask her?

My dog is 7 years old. Hes a rhodesian ridgeback cross and has always had problems with his paws. But now one of his pads seems to have split open and theres a pinky patch of flesh. Hes limping badly.
I was wondering whether i should soak it in salt water or if there is anything else i can do to help it heal.

All answers appreciated. thank you :)

Can anyone tell me if there are tell tell signs that a female dog has previously had a litter.
I have recently rescued a jackrussell/spaniel cross (2 years old) and wanted to know if there is a way that you can tell as
we have no records of her past.

I would like a large-medium sized breed (NO small dogs), willing to walk twice per day for 40-60 minutes each time, playful, excellent with children (aged 9+ is a must), good with cats (I own 2), easy to housebreak, smart and fast learner, NO LONG HAIRED BREEDS, doesn't need professional grooming more than once per year, protective is nice but I want a friendly dog and it doesn't matter whether he will protect me.

Don't be typical by suggesting Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever or German Shepherd. I also don't want any Terriers. I have considered adopting but I want to experience the bond with a puppy. I want a purebred dog, no cross breeds.

Preferably no more than $750.

Hey all
I have a pit bull who is pretty much hairless on his belly.
He gets terrible skin allergies that is all red and inflammed. I have tried all sorts of anti allergy creams including quartozon (? not sure of spelling) but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?? I hate to think of my poor dog suffering...
Cheers

My pet, Marylin Monroe a.k.a Mary needs a permanent home. She is a beautiful, brown eyed, affectionate princess. She is sterilized and cannot have babies. Interested person should be affectionate, responsible with a permanent home.

I was looking through all the questions posted about dogs and I read something about it not being good to stare into a dog's eyes. I've never heard this before. Please explain!!

I have 2 dogs, a german sheperd and a lab. Both are female mixes. We are working on correcting barking, aggression to strangers/children, food aggression and general unwanted behavior. I know that I helped contribute to this behavior unknowingly and I've made some changes to start fixing it. Heres what I've done:

*I walk through doorways first and make the dogs follow.
*I allow them on furniture, but regularly put them off for a while to show that it's mine.
*I practice sit and stay daily.
*They must sit and stay for treats.
*No jumping, pawing or mouthing anymore...
*I stare them down or walk them into a corner when they bark after I tell them to stop.

I don't know what else I need to do? There is improvement but it's still lacking. I've been working at it for about 10 days. They still pull on the leash but not as bad. What other things can I do to assert myself as pack leader? I leave food down all day and have heard this is bad. Please be specific...

Hey

I'm sorry, this is like my 4th post about my new puppy tonight.. but anyway, I just wanna make sure i do it right.

Once she is about 4 months old I will be going to a concert with my boyfriend, meaning we'll be gone for about 4 hours.

The puppy is about 2 pounds and won't get much more than 4....

Is it safe to leave her?

Also, overall is it safe to leave her for about 2 hours every day?

She would be in an enclosed area with her bed , food, water, toy....
