one time when I taught day care, on valentines day, I came home and put my stuff on the couch, there were about 6 of those big red hearts filled with chocolates that the kids had given me, I went up stairs for about a minute. when I came down my basset hound was sitting in the middle of the couch and had eaten every single piece of chocolate. He lived to tell all his dog friends about.

My dog once found a bag of Hershey Kisses and ate most of the bag, foil wrappers and all. I called the vet in a panic and they told me to make my dog drink hydrogen peroxide. I guess I gave my dog about an ounce of it.
It makes the dog vomit. She barfed up lots of chocolate and foil, then turned around to give me the dirtiest look ever! It was priceless. But that was 12 years ago and she is still living today.

lucy02 is correct. A couple of spoonfuls of hydrogen peroxide down the gullet -- that makes them upchuck.
If the dog is not showing any difficulties like labored breathing or shock after 45 minutes PLUS the 45 some odd minutes from the time of your posting ... she'll be OK.
So, the little monkey got into your snack stash? Time to get a steel lockbox. LOL

Reeses have more peanut butter than chocolate, and the chocolate it does contain is milk chocolate, which has less cocoa than dark chocolate. I would think it'd be fine. My dog ate a pack of cadbury eggs and didn't even get sick.

well milk chocolate isn't as bad as dark chocolate because it's the coca that is bad for dogs, plus there is peanut butter in it. You may try to call poison control? But other than that, just keep an eye on your dog and look to see if she is ill. Just in case, start looking in the phone book for 24 hour vets. She may have a heart attack, but I wouldn't worry. My dog has gotten into chocolate so many times and was always fine.

I would not be to concerned, we had a little poodle eat a bag of fudge a while back and we called the vet and they said there biggest concern is the sugar in diet candy and some chocolates. I would maybe call the vet and get some suggestions from them.

I would not freak out just yet. As long as the dog doesn't get into dark chocolate, that much chocolate won't do anything. If you are really worried, take her to the vet in the morning, but watch her tonight.

She should be fine. From what I understand, it takes a lot of chocolate to harm a dog. Hang in there. She's ok. Have a dog gone good year and learn to put up your stuff.

Dogs can consume 1 ounce of chocolate per pound and still be alright....I hav had to worry about this before :) Just look at the package and see how many ounces each one was.

Wow. That is amazing. How old is she? I have a friend whose dog ate a battery and was still fine. Depending on how old she is, she might be OK (chances are she will). Just keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't vomit (on accident, not by making her).
