I moved in to a new house that another family lived in. And the family that was in the house before said that they were going to leave their dog(golden retriever) in the house. and now we have the dog. The other family had the dog for 3 years and the dog is 8 years old now. So, he's REAALLY depressed and misses his family. He doesn't want to walk with me and doesn't want to do anything with me and he lays down all day long. So, i really want to get along with him. What should I do??

antifreeze! How sick is that? honestly I lost all respect for that person immediately and it literally made me sick to my stomach. I had to find out where they live so that I could make sure my dogs werent in danger.. My dog barks at passers by from behind my fence, he is a dog protecting his territory and his family. Its not like I let him chase people or terrorize them he is behind a fence and when he barks I call him inside and say sorry to the people walking by. But in reality barking at strangers is what dogs do, its in their nature. My dog also barks at kids not that he would hurt them its just what he does to ANYBODY walking by our yard. It scares me that other people would even consider killing a dog because it barked at their children.. because my dogs are my family too... doesnt mean I would poison the neigbours kids for throwing rocks at my dog (which really did happen) I merely told them if they did it again I would talk to their parents and they would be in big trouble.

I was just wondering if the recent news about tainted dog/cat food has made anyone reconsider the way they feed their pets. Very luckily we were not affected because my 4 year old Rottie eats boiled meat every day, plus raw veggies, rice, eggs & about anything else he can get his mouth around!! But seriously, this is a decision that we made when he was very young, we have stuck by it, and we are blessed with a healthy happy dog. We are told by our vet that about 20% of people feed this way. I was just wondering if the recent news has made anyone rethink feeding....oh, by the way our Rottie also gets a Pet tab (vitamin) just in case anything is missing.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you who have lost your precious babies, and to those of you who are waiting for answers.
I believe its time to put the dog & cat food companies out of business or at least try - if you shop in the meat aisle for your dog i think you will be better off in the long run. Any questions, you can emai

ok i have a yorkie she is 3 i have had her about 3 months now. she has never been house broke just went on the floor in a garage. anyway i have tried everything i know to do.here is what i have tried taking her out every 3 hrs, keeping her on a leash with me at all times, praising her when she goes. i have tried crate training i had a bigger crate then went to a very small one that only her bed will fit in and she will pee and poop in her crate and sleep in it i dont know what else to do. i love her and she is great otherwise but my family is not dealing well with this and i am tring to sell my home so i cant have he messing in the house all the time please help me if you can. sometimes when i take her out she will pee but very seldom will poop and will turn around 2 min after we come in and do it on the floor. even first thing in the am she wont pee because she done did in her cage. i take her out at 7 and then again at 10 when i get a break and she still wont go or has already....

Who owns a Doberman, or just loves them? or has a comment about them, go ahead and tell me! gimme a story!?
If you do, tell me.

I have a Doberman, Named hammer. he is my 11th dobie. I've been raised with dobermans, and they are the best breed ever! dont beleive me, then check out the stats..
I saved him from a shelter when he was 11 months old, he is pure bred, but his first owners couldnt keep him anymore because they already paid too much for him " a thousand dollars" and they didnt want to keep up with him, so they dropped him off at the shelter when he was 3 months old. he then was adopted agian at 9 months, but he got loose, but when the shelter picked him up, the second owners didnt want him, they said that he was too big and stalky, and they just didnt want him anymore, he was too affectionate. and they didnt have time for that. and when i came in to look for a dobe with my father, the shelter said he only had the weekend to live, it was friday! I adopted him immeadiataly. Now he is being police trained by me, bc all my dobes were. and now he is the best obediant dobie ever!

he is the best thing i have had in my life so far, and alot of people congradulate me on saving him, but i cant help to think inside that he has saved me in more ways then i can count!

And if you dont like them, tell me. I want to hear some humor =]

He's been vomiting and having diarrhea, been lethargic, and is refusing food and water. We took him to the vet already, and he's prescribed something for the nausea and an antibiotic. He told us to watch him closely, because he may need to be admitted. For anyone here who has been through this, what kind of costs have you experienced? I'm ready to do what I need for my dog, I just was wondering what sort of costs I should be preparing for...

Thanks.

has a tiny ball inside his head. I was petting my dog's head and noticed a tiny ball inside his skin. Is this normal for dogs or poodles???

My dog's hair is crazy, and I sometimes trim the hair around his eyes so he can see better.

If I trim the gnatty balls of hair around his mouth, and in turn his whiskers, will it hurt him?

I know this sounds silly, but Its just weird?! Like lets say when I'm petting him, I look down at him, he will look for a second, but then look away. I think I heard it was something about dominance, but I think im wrong? what could it be?

Thanks.
