Boxers are considered "puppies" til at least 2 yrs of age because they act and play like "puppies". At 9 mos, they are puppies. It should be housebroken, crate trained and not hyper in the house. Why are these people getting rid of it? Has it had any training at all like obedience or crate trained(both are basics with any pup)? Can it walk on a leash? There are a lot of reasons people get a Boxer and decide to give it away but the main one is they have not trained the dog and they don't want to take the time to do that. Boxers, as with any breed, are highly intelligent, need family contact (not put in a yard and left there) and are trainable with time and effort. Get some questions answered and research the breed BEFORE you take it. Yes, they can be 40+ lbs at that age. I have two Boxers and mine weigh 59 and 71 lbs. A friend of mine has one that weighs 95 lbs. They can get very big, but most do not go over 70-75 lbs and some not over 60 lbs. It depends on bone structure and size of the parents.
Please research the breed to see what is required of a Boxer owner. They are very people oriented and want to be with you, where every you are.

Just to let you know, I am a boxer fan. We have a 8 week old puppy now. Read up on them, they are very good dogs and they love their families, but they are also very hyper dogs and need room to run and play or a good walk. Yes at 9 months the dog is still a puppy. Should be between 40-75 lbs depending. Hope this helps

It's still considered a puppy until it's a year old when they usually stop growing. A box will get up to these weights and heights:
Weight: Male: 65-80, Female: 50-65 Lbs.
Height: Male: 22.5-25, Female: 21-23.5 Inches
So it could stand about 2 feet in height from the floor to the top of it's shoulders.

Dogs usually are able to breed after 1 years (they are no longer considered puppies) but they grow a bit and fill out a lot for 2 years.
Boxers are terrific dogs :)
