Who owns a Doberman, or just loves them? or has a comment about them, go ahead and tell me! gimme a story!?
If you do, tell me.

I have a Doberman, Named hammer. he is my 11th dobie. I've been raised with dobermans, and they are the best breed ever! dont beleive me, then check out the stats..
I saved him from a shelter when he was 11 months old, he is pure bred, but his first owners couldnt keep him anymore because they already paid too much for him " a thousand dollars" and they didnt want to keep up with him, so they dropped him off at the shelter when he was 3 months old. he then was adopted agian at 9 months, but he got loose, but when the shelter picked him up, the second owners didnt want him, they said that he was too big and stalky, and they just didnt want him anymore, he was too affectionate. and they didnt have time for that. and when i came in to look for a dobe with my father, the shelter said he only had the weekend to live, it was friday! I adopted him immeadiataly. Now he is being police trained by me, bc all my dobes were. and now he is the best obediant dobie ever!

he is the best thing i have had in my life so far, and alot of people congradulate me on saving him, but i cant help to think inside that he has saved me in more ways then i can count!

And if you dont like them, tell me. I want to hear some humor =]

When I started Dog Training School at Aztec School of Canine Training I had a 2 year old red Dobie. The school was for training dogs in aggression work (police dogs).

Kelly was not a prime subject for aggression training because she did not hold her ground when approached by a stranger. She would back up. But the training program was dog specific, meaning we worked with each individual dog and that dogs particular type. 'A' being a dog that would stand his ground and was a very dominate and showed signs of aggression. "B" is a subordinate, 'C' is a puppy or a dog that is too young.

My Kelly was a 'B' but with in a few weeks she became an 'A'. We went through some really rigorus training for 8 months, 5 days a week. By the time I graduated she was a fully trained Police Dog. The only thing she was not trained for was bomb detection.

A few years latter I was working on the State Fair Grounds as a State Police Officer but they would not let me use Kelly on the job. But, one day off duty I took her with me to pick up a pay check and ask if I could show how well she worked and how dependable she was and show that she was not visious.
After the demo Kelly and I was a team. We worked crowd control, building search, escort to lock-up, we guarded the bank on occasion.

Soon she was wanted every where at once and I became one of the top payed officers and had privlidged posts. She was calm enough to walk the fair grounds and she could be petted. She was a very exception dog in many ways and we as a team did very well.

Sometimes I felt as if we had an psychic connection cause she was always there when needed.

She was a wonderful pet, loyal friend and the best partner one could ever have. She died at the age of 10 and looseing her took two years for the grief to ease. We were closer than any two different spieces could be.

I have a doberman. He's my first dog and I've had him since I was in middle school (now I'm in college). He's the quirkiest, funniest dog ever. I don't see him much anymore nowadays only when I can visit home during holidays, but whenever I go home, he always spends all the nights lying next to my computer desk chair at home next to me. From time to time, he'll get up and start pushing my arm with his head so that my hand will land on his head (even when I'm trying to get work done!) and i'll have to give him a petting session until he's satisfied, otherwise he'd keep pushing my arm.

I remember when he was little, he used to try to stalk the various rabbits and squirrels in our backyard, as well. Except he didn't realize he was more than 4 ft tall and the grass is short cut. Not a whole lot of 'stalking' involved - but it made us laugh.

people who think that dobermans are violent or bad dogs have obviously never had one. He is just the sweetest, most caring dog ever. when he was little, i used to call him my "baby".. and now that he's getting up there, i call him "granddaddy".. haha

I work as a dog trainer with a doberman rescue. I have one male right now, Kai. He is a red and is 4 years old. He is lots of fun but a lot of work also. He came to me not having very good obedience and some bad habits. With some work he has shaped right up and is a great dog. I always have at least one dobe in the house. I do alot of foster work for the rescue. I take ones that have problems and work with them to get better manners and social skills on them and hen they are placed up for adoption.

Kudo's for saving him!

I'm in the process of moving to a different state and once everything is ready I plan on fostering for a Doberman Rescue group I found. I LOVE the breed. They are beautiful and so affectionate.

I just hope I don't wind up adopting every one! LOL

I was an only child growing up and I had a Doberman. That dog was like my best friend. He was very protective of me. His name was Ace and I had him for 10 years. He basically grew up with me. I got him when I was 2 yrs. old. He used to get off the chain and one day he ran up the road. He was free and wanted to run. My parents tried to call him back but he wouldn't come until I fell on the ground and started crying outloud. He turned around and came running to check on me and that's the only way we got him to come back. I cried for like 4 days when he died. I have 3 toy poodles now but I have always said that one day, I would have another Dobe. They are such beautiful, strong, noble looking creatures.

I heard a breeders own pet doberman turned on her and killed her. They seem to be inbred, sketchy freaks. Breeding dogs is wrong. Especially dobermans. You sound excited that his cost was 1000 dollars.,. He seems like a status symbol to you. that is the problem with purebreds. Oh, and the fact that your dobie will probably die of a inbreeding genetic disease. Breeding dogs is wrong. However i like to watch COPS when their shepards are eating a bad guy.
