Yes, they are still investigating the whole thing. And it is mostly canned and moist food that has been reported. But dry food also has been found that contains this poison..they keep ruling some out and finding more. I cook for my dogs now, and will continue this practice.

Yes I read that on yahoo news.

Actually where I live - in a tiny jungle town...if someone doesn't like your animal they might give them some drool - raw red meat with rat poison....

and I am ashamed of this...but I had to go to Canada and my cat was going crazy - half blind and extreemly meowy....and rolly and just wack in the head...so my mom tells me:

go put her down at the vets. Ok so I go the wife says the vet (husband) isnt in and wont be back till after lunch - we have to catch a flight at 11....into civilization 5 day trip ...aaah... anyhow so the lady tells me after I mention this well the other option is this..it is cheaper most people use it...

rat poison...freaky. well I had no choice - really. I think I'm scarred for life...America is paranoid. Control through fear. Someone probably hates the rat poison producers and wanted to get them kicked out...like yeah I won't go any further. Sorry.

The substance in the food was identified as aminopterin, a cancer drug that once was used to induce abortions in the United States and is still used to kill rats in some other countries.

The federal government prohibits using aminopterin for killing rodents in the U.S. State officials would not speculate on how the poison got into the pet food, but said no criminal investigations had been launched.

DRY FOOD IS NOT AFFECTED.

Wet “cuts and gravy” food produced between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007 are thought to be of concern.

its kind of scary to think about. if a spiteful person did this and was able to get to this much dog food, can you imagine if they tried moving on to human food?
