I have a pomeranian. She's been getting sick to her stomach at night. She also feels really hot and clammy. This is weird for a dog because they don't usually sweat. She seems normal maybe a little tired. But it just scares me because when I pick her up her skin on her belly is really warm. I can even feel the heat through the hair on her back. I'm really worried, but a vet visit is really expensive. She could've eaten something funny because she picks everything up off the floor. She isn't spayed, she weighs about 6 pounds and she'll be 4 in May. I just would like to know if puppies get feavers like humans..

thanks

My dog didn't use to have this problem, he always goes to the yard and does his business. But we had a couple of big snow storms and the yard and deck were covered by snow, so he poops and pee on the deck. I guess he couldn't distinguish between the yard and the deck. But now the snow are melted he still do it on the deck. How can I get him not to? Thanks!

I have a 6 month old golden retriever and he always pees indoors, even when we leave the door open for him, he would rather pee on the carpet! How do I trian him to pee outside instead of inside?
He also has a tendency to chew on almost everything he sees, any tips on how to stop him?

Now this is only on occasion but still its so annoying. We live in an apartment and normally our dog (7or 8 mo. old pit/ boxer mix) is really good with us letting him off the lead and playing fetch, but occasionally he will not come!! He wants us to play tag or something. The strange thing is when we start walking away from him he will just start walking away from us! He is not neutered so i know that can play apart but he just will not come!! Help please!

I adopted a 4 year old rottweiler from a girl who I worked with. She breeds rotts, and she had four of them and decided, after a divorce and personal issues, to give me the youngest male.. Cujo, the rottweiler is the biggest baby. I blame a lot of this on her physical abuse to him and the others. He is shy and just wants to lay in your lap to be petted. He is scared of pretty much everything silly - plastic bags, garbage cans, guitars, plastic bottles, etc. When I first got him, he was great. He listened to everything I said. He would come, sit, lay down, stay, kennel up. He would stay by my side for walks. I feel like he is no longer this well behaved anymore. He rarely comes to me when I call him. He pulls and drags me all over the place, and he has become very interested in other dogs; he is very hard to control, and will whine. I can't get his attention at all. It's embarassing and I feel like people think he is mean because he is a rott so I don't take him out anymore
Suggestions?

If we try to leave our 15 month old Cocker Spaniel, she holds us hostage in our home with her constant barking. Before we moved 1700 miles away her separation anxiety seemed manageable. We were told by our neighbor in the old apartment building that she barked for a few minutes upon our departure. No one else there mentioned it or complained. Compounding the problem is that we are retired so our dog did not grow up experiencing daily periods of alone time. It is our own fault. We created a monster.
Angel barks immediately upon our departure. Our neighbors have no tolerance because sound travels here. We have been following Cesar Millan's “pack leader” way for 3 weeks. All the the trainers (too expensive) in the area say that obedience won't solve our drastic situation. Many of them suggest bark collars. Any ideas are appreciated.

I know many people would like to think that their normally, friendly to everyone pets will suddenly charge at an attacker or a burglar and bite them despite having never displayed any type of aggression before.

Case in point, I am a big fan of the show "It Takes A Thief." If you're not familiar with the show, basically these two guys rob you (with your permission) to show you just how vulnerable your house is and then give you lots of cool security stuff. Anyway, out of all the episodes in which people had dogs, the dogs were all perfectly friendly, very few of them even barked. I saw a doberman go running out his doggy door in fear when he saw the strange people come in!

Do people say this just to make themselves feel better or what?

I would like to find a 200 to 500 dollar teacup Yorkie. FEMALE pup please. I would hope for the location to be from Lompoc, CA the furthest to be Santa Barbara, CA. Please do not say any thing about that it's not possible for them to be this price because I've seen them at this affordable price range. Thank You.

I heard that if you trim your dogs nails too short and cut into the quick the dog could bleed to death. Is this true?

I haven't owned a dog in years but my family was ready to bring one into our home. He is some mix of American Bulldog, Boxer and/or Staffie. He's about 4 months old and the person who currently has him says he is very intelligent and good natured. What should I do to get my home "puppy ready"? Should I try to crate train him even though I am home all day and rarely leave my apartment for more than a few hours? Anyone have suggestions on things to buy for him besides the obvious food, collar, leash, etc? Sorry for the long question but I just want to make this transition easy for everyone! If you have any advice please let me know what it is!!!

I know most people, myself included, have strong opinions about designer dogs - most of those saying that it's just slapping a fancy label on a mutt to make more money.

While this indeed may be true, isn't the theory of what these "breeders" (I use the term loosely) are doing basically the same thing that breeders long ago did to make the purebred breeds we know today? They take two different types of dogs and breed them in the hopes that the pups inherit the desired traits from the parents.

The only difference between breeders back then and people today that I can see is that people today are trying to make money rather than create an entirely new breed.

Thoughts?

I was holding my puppy and I noticed something on my upper arm, It was a hookworm, it was barely moving. I thought that I would vomit!!!! I washed my hands and arm with hot soapy water but I am scared out of my mind that it may have passed its larvae into my skin!! I didn't leave it on there more than 30 seconds before I actually could wash it off. My puppy was vaccinated yesterday. The worm looked like it was about to die, but it was still moving!! Please someone, help me calm my nerves. Thanks
