I have a 6 month old golden retriever and he always pees indoors, even when we leave the door open for him, he would rather pee on the carpet! How do I trian him to pee outside instead of inside?
He also has a tendency to chew on almost everything he sees, any tips on how to stop him?

Don't just leave him to wander around, be there and train him! You put them on the lead every hour, you take them to the toilet spot, you wait patiently, you reward them when they go.
Going on the carpet is called 'surface preference'. Make a spot in the garden to use as a dog loo, mark it out with bricks or planks, and take him there. He can't know thats the spot he's supposed to use until you teach him.
As for the chewing, its a stage they go through because they're teething. Get him plenty of suitable chews and keep all your stuff out the way. Its impossible to stop them chewing; all you can do is give him things he can chew.
Don't let him wander around unsupervised, get a stairgate and keep him and his bed in the kitchen when you're not there to keep a close eye on him. Shutting the door will make him feel pushed out but a stairgate won't.
He can't learn by himself, he'll just get into bad habits, you have to be there to teach him how you want him to behave. Thats what training is, its teaching.
Decide what you want him to do, then teach him. Give rewards when he gets it right to let him know that was the right thing to do.

Have you ever seen the Dog Whisperer? He says you need to let your dog know that you possess everything in your house. He watches the dog starting to chew and then he acts like he's snaping at them like a dominant dog would in a pack. anyway, he's awesome and it's hard to explain. Try to see it. If you don't have cable, see if they have clips of the actual show on youtube.com or something. It's very entertaining and useful.
