I know domestic dogs can breed with coyotes and wolves and some people (though it's stupid), breed them on purpose. I'm wondering because my dog looks a lot like a fox. In fact, my Mom and I saw one running across the road this morning by our house and she really thought it was our dog!

I am looking into getting a little addition to our family, we lost our old dobe last nov and while I wouldn't have changed her for the world and loved her to bits she had an immense dislike for other dogs, despite our best efforts and much early socialisation, which often made life difficult for us. We were thinking something smaller, maybe a jack russell or Patterdale, however I have heard that particulary the Patterdale does not make an ideal pet as they need to work. Can anybody recommend an ideal breed that would be quite easy going with a short coat??

personally, I don't at all.... I've always fed my dog people food, and he's never gotten sick... dog food is only stuff that they could sell to humans coated with preservatives, which could cause cancer... ( like a hot-dog )

My tweleve-year old black lab has large growths underneath her stomach. They look like they would be uncomfortable because when she lays down it falls to the side. It used to be a large ball. Now it is very large, flat and looks like it could just fall off. Here's the thing, the vet thinks because she's already had two surgery's she shouldn't get these removed. Any suggestions? She also has a dry hacking cough, common in older labs. Anyone have any natural remedies?

My Japanese Chin is 16 weeks old and is very comfortable at home. She roams around by herself, is pottytrained, and knows where her food and toys are. However, when I take her to my boyfriends house or out the my apt period, she is timid. She is very friendly with strangers that come over my apartment and other dogs as well. However, she doesn't really like riding in the car, walking on a lease, or being taken out of her comfort zone. I want to break this habit to make her a better socialized pup that I can take everywhere with me and her still be happy. What are some things I can do with her to make her more comfortable outside my apt and what is the best way to teach a small dog to walk on a leash (harness). She is 2.7 lbs, a very small chin. Thanks!

...or if they use the crate incorrectly? What are the alternatives to house training if crate training won't be used? How do you advise an owner if they're using the crate incorrectly (in isolation of basement, puppy "jailed" for 8 hours without a break, accepting that the crate is a place for potty time, etc)? BTW, do you think that the examples I gave are boarder line abusive?

How many times should a puppy be fed a day?

Currently he eats twice, in the morning and evening.

He poops 3-4 times a day and he does get a little bit of treats during training. So maybe like 10 tiny pieces of dog jerky.

Can I feed him just once in the afternoon. Then at night I do the tiny treats but just skip the morning?

He eats so little each time anyways. I am thinking he will eat more if fed once. He's a 3 month old Maltese/Shihtzu. He probably eats like litterally 15 little kiblets of his food.

Thanks.

I've been reading online about it being okay to give your dog benadryl for allergies and I was wondering if someone could tell me the mg/weight. I have a 23lb beagle/basset mix and I wasn't sure if I should give him children's benadryl or regular benadryl and how much? Also is there any good websites to read up about what supplements I could give him for his skin??
