He may have fallen hard when you didn't see him. I knew a dog once who never entered the kitchen of the house because it was linoleum. He had absolutely no traction on that surface and had fallen and really hurt himself as a puppy. Linoleum and other slippery surface floors are actually quite dangerous for dogs. There have been reports to dogs breaking bones and really injuring themselves that way. You may have to lay down non slip rugs for him to navigate your house. Initially you may have to recondition him so that he is again comfortable walking through those areas and so that he knows it is safe.

A dog that young typically wants too run, or at least move about quickly indoors. Outdoors they can do that, but hardwood floors are somewhat difficult for most dogs too maneuver. They tend to slip and slide, the noise that they create on the floor from their nails trying too get traction and loss of control resulting in falling, crashing and whatnot can cause fear and anxiety. I would simply put down some floor runners, but also try walking the dog indoors on a leash for a short time to allow them too adjust to their indoor environment. In time they will come to adjust !

He may have been running, wiped out and hurt himself badly. Give it time and he should get over it. You could always lay his food or favorite dog treats on the floor so he has to go over there to get them. Another thing you could do is put down some rugs so he has a surface he can walk on without slipping.

I had the same problem with my dog. It happened a few months ago. All of the sudden she wouldn't walk on any of the floors in my house that didn't have carpet. It lasted a few weeks and then one day she was over it. I just assumed she had fallen sometime and it scared her.

If your dog is scarred all the sudden maybe something is physically wrong with it, when dogs are sick they tend to be scared and sometimes hide. If you don't suspect foul play form someone that interacted with your dog than maybe you should take him/her in for a check up! My dog had parvo and I didn't find out until it was too late!:(

It's probably because he slipped. I personally would put runners down.

lay on the floor with him. Get in your socks and slide around. Make it a game and he will come around.

You could beat the brakes off him. But I think that is illegal.
