breed of dog is and why?

2007-03-07 06:38:42 · 21 answers · asked by Krista 3

as a treat, that is. My mom's friend gives her dog a tiny piece of hotdog as a reward when he goes potty in the right place. She said she has done it ever since he was a puppy and it has worked tremendously. She has a small dog. I was thinkning of doing the same because I am having a lot of trouble houstraining my 6month old yorkie/silky mix.

She does this every so often.

I have a cold, and have had a cold for the past couple days. But I'm getting over it, and she's been hanging around me alot lately since I'm sick.

Today when I woke up, my sister told me that my dog (Helga) threw up when she had her out for a walk. She keeps shaking, and she seems really lazy. My mom checked her for a fever (put her hand on her forehead, nose, checked for wet nose, etc.) and she doesn't have one.

She threw up again, and if it helps, it was kind of white-cream colored, foamy, and there didn't appear to be anything in it.

She just lays there and shakes and shivers, and her breathing is fast.

She's done this before, and always recovers in about a day. I'm just asking opinions to make sure she's okay.

My husband and I have a 2 year old Mini-Schnauzer .. he is very "needy". We give him tons of attention .. but it's never enough. If my husband and I touch each other .. the dog flips out and starts barking .. he wants ALL the attention.
My husband was reading the newspaper the other day and the dog started knocking it out of his hand and barking so that my husband would transfer his attention to him. Well, it's never been a problem .. but we are having our first child in July .. and I don't want the dog barking and throwing a fit when we cuddle our son. Is there any suggestions? should we get another dog to help keep him company?

any suggestions would be great! thanks!!

My GF has 2 medium sized dogs(75 pounds) and sometime in between now and Oct, we will probably have to find them a new home. See, in Oct we are moving to a different state and staying with a friend til we find jobs and a place of our own. But the person we will be staying with has cats and it wont work. My GF is really heart broken about the thought of having to do this(so am I).. and is really worried about them going to a bad home. I wanted to know if there was any advise any of you could give on this ? Thanks in advance.

I do not intend to breed her, as I am not qualified to do this. She has a beautiful temperment, and her menses doesn't bother me. I just keep her in a doggie nappie. Basically I do not want to have her spade, but I will be bringing another dog into the home soon. I am probably getting a cavalier king charles spaniel or english spaniel male whom I'll have neutered. Will this bring challenges or difficulties, if she is left intact?

There has been a dog around our yard latley and my 2 year old male dog has been acting very weird. He is barking uncontrolably when he is outside on the chain, shivering when he is indoors laying down and even just acting different. he has had all of his shots and has always acted the same...now that there is another dog in his territory he is different. PS- The dog is a stray and we don't know if its male or female. Any suggestions on why my dog is acting this way?

The breeder let the puppy (5 mo old maltese) use puppy pads instead of going outside. We will be getting him soon. What is the best way to get a dog to progress from the puppy pads to going outside?

What are your views on it? I think it is really good to stop unwanted pregnancies and neglected animals. We got our dog done today, i feel quite bad on her though. Putting her through it. She looks really sad and is quite sleepy.

The cat and dog foods have been the same for the past 4 years and this is recent. She only does it when we are away or sleeping. She hides when we return or waken becaue she knows it is wrong and we have punished her for it. But she still continues to do it. I assume its a nutrition problem going on. She is now not coming around because she continues to do this and she feel bad. We miss our dog, help!

I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE BREEDEER WHO SAYS SHE HAS THE PAPERS AND TO CALL BACK LATER AND WE WOULD GET THIS HANDLED, NOW I CANNOT GET HER TO ANSWER THE PHONE. WHAT LEGAL ACTION CAN I TAKE TO GET MY DOGS PAPERS?

I have a 12 year old beagle mix. she has been coughing and choking for several months. The vet has been unable to find a reason.

This morning at yet another visit, the vet said she is probably asthematic. The problem is that the treatment requires steroids which are hard on the heart. The vet wants me to take her halfway across the state to have an EKG performed which will cost $500.

If she does not have a heart condition, it's safe to administer the asthema treatment. If she does have a heart condition, she could go at any time now, the vet said.

Am I crazy for thinking that the heart check would in this case be a waste of time and money? I'm asking her treat for asthema and if she has a bad heart, she's go anyway.

Age is a factor, too. If she was younger, There's nothing I wouldn't do. But at her age and health otherwise, the best I could ask for is one more year.

What would you do if this was your dog? Please take age, expense and love into account. Thanks
