My number 1 favorite breed is the Bulldog. I have 2 right now and they are just the best. Runner up breed would have to be German Shepherd which I have 1 right now that was imported from Germany and will be trained in Schutzhund which is protection training.

I also look at animal shelters first, you can find some great dogs there. Although they are not puppies anymore, you can get a good idea of their personality since they are grown and also a good look at their health. It's hard to tell with puppies.
As for breed, I would say a mutt. Purebreds all have predictable tendencies, and also health problems that mutts are not so prone to. http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/tutorial1.html
For example dobermans have high risk of heart disease and cancer, german shepherds have bone problems, etc. Mutts tend to have less health problems, although like that link points out, their health, as well as behavior is less predictable. With a purebred you can watch out for health problems that breed is prone to.
Mutts just tend to be all around great dogs, great personality. Not too agressive, anxious, nervous, wild, etc. I personally like mutts, obviously.
If you are looking for a dog I would recommend the site above, there is tons of information about all different breeds, from health, behavior, exercise needs, etc. Tips on what to look for when buying your dog as how they are bred and raised make a huge difference in the dog you will get.
The dog you will like best will be the one that fits your personality and lifestyle, the dog will enjoy it much better as well. You can see that everyone has a different opinion of the best dog, because they all have different lifestyles and personalities. That website is very good if you are looking for a dog.

Right now the breed I like best is the dalmation. That is the breed of dog I picked from the pound a few months ago, but when his time on earth is over my favorite breed will change to whatever I get from the pound; just as it has all my life.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Westies. Well I have the Westie and on tommorow (march 8th) I am getting a corgi. I have reasearched them both and the pembrokes are very friendly and good for apartments, and if you live on a farm they are perfect aswell as they are good herders and are great with other animals. Westies dont shed a lot and can be nippy at some times but are all around good dogs.

That relly depends. Which ever dog you take to better. Unless you have children I wouldn't reccomend any breed of bulldog. Labs and retrievers are loyal but a beagle will want to roam and wander. It's just whatever dog catches your eye and you take to.

I like huskies. There is no BEST (at least not to me) breed of dog. I think that every single dog needs a good home and a loving family. My favorite dog is a husky because it's very playful and warm and fuzzy!

West Highland Terrier! My dog is intelligent, sweet, non-aggressive, not shy, hardly ever barks, obedient, good with animals and children, hardly sheds at all, easy to groom, I potty trained her in 3 days. But, she has allergies in the summer, not too bad, however she itches. I give her benadryl. One time the vet gave her prednisone when I discovered allergy. She loves doing anything, as long as, she is doing it with me. We travel together, watch t.v. together, go hiking and fishing together. I LOVE HER!!! She is the best dog I ever had!
