to much of a good thing is not good for man or beast. i can see feeding him a bone or some of the meat. but not like using him as a garbage disposal.
be very careful of the foods you give him. there are poisonous foods to dogs: onions, grape skin and seeds, and anything with caffine.

People like this always make me want to scream! They are the first ones who cry and say they dont understand why their dog is sick and dying in my clinic when they've "just fed him a little.....that he gets all the time" Despite the fact that there is documented facts stating how bad it is, people think well he didnt die last time. Guess what, you got really lucky. And what kind of proof do you have that dog food causes cancer? You wont feed that, of which there is no proof for causing harm. But you will feed things that are known to cause harm...baffling. I've seen too many animals die from eating chocolate, pork, raisins, onions, fatty food etc, it s one thing if the owners are just unaware of the dangers, its another if they are aware and choose to ignore it.

Absolutely not! The difference is that they will be eating "human grade" food. If you feed them candy and sugar they may get sick but if you give them a well balanced diet of human food they will be much healthier than if you feed dog food. The trick is to learn how to provide a balance canine diet.
Please read the articles at the links bellow and find out what is really in dog foods. BTW Even the good ones are not as good as human food.

Well lyou are so informed! It is not a matter of believing in it. It is a fact that a dog is not able to metabolize human food. So it will develop allergies such as skin allergies and will not live to it's full potential. A dog needs different nutrients to maintain it's health. Companies like Waltham who carry food in grocery stores and it is not expensive, study the health of dogs and come up with a formula that is made especially for that animal. You need to become more informed and be less ignorant.sorry for your dog.

I feed my dogs all sort of stuff & they are perfectly fine! We just went to the vet to for some of one of my dogs required shots & the vet said that he is in good condition & a very healthy dog! I think that as long as they eat their regular food too & dont eat to much human food then they are fine! :)

dog food is made up of all the nutrients that the dog needs, human food is made for humans, personaly dogs nature is meat and thats where they stem from so no human food isnt bad for them but~they make dog food to keep the dog healthy, they dont make dog food for just another product to keep humans buyin the stuff~humans buy the stuff cause they love and care for their pets and only want the best for their companions. but dog food is the best for the dog, its got the proper nutrients.

Although I'm no expert on dog health, I do know that certain foods are not good for dogs. I heard chocolate is supposed to be poisonous to dogs. I really don't know what it does , but I just heard it's not good for them at all.

they may or may not get sick, b/c they could be allergic to table food..i volunteer at a local animal shelter and they told us not to feed dogs table food b/c their digestive system isnt the same as humans and they cant digest the food like we can...its best to give them puppy and dog food, and dry food is the best.

Depends on what you feed them. I sometimes give my pup chicken and vegetables but that's about it. She loves cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, zucchini. No grease, no pork, no chocolate, onions. Just make sure that the dog food you feed him is good for him and not full of fillers. First ingredient should be meat.
