I really want a cat too...to live outdoors with my dog...and my mother will allow me to get a cat because she knows that my dog may try to attack one. My cat living inside is not an option because I have a parakeet and I don't want her to be terrified...

I know that there are people out there who are looking for a show dog or a dog to breed. These people are often willing to pay a lot for one with great blood lines, and bred by an excellent breeder. I want a dog that is healthy, has a good temperament, and is raised by a responsible breeder. However, I'm just looking for a pet. Nothing more. I found a few excellent breeders who are really into showing and their dogs have great blood lines. But they want around $1,500. Is that too much to pay for a dog that will only be a pet? Will it be worth it?

In my town, they have a new animal shelter called Pahrump animal shelter; a new leash on life. It says on the website that they need some volunteers to help the animals, socialize with them, take them for walks, feed them, answer phones, etc.... And I was thinking of volunteering mon-fri and on Saturday. But then again I have school and projects as well. Should I just volunteer anyway? Or just do it later?

I tool my dog to pet smarts today. As I was asking the grooming dept. on the cost of a dog bath, my dog suddently got free from the leash. Once he was free, he ran out 2 sliding entrance doors.
I managed to to call his name and he came to me.

Once he came to me, I redo the leash. Believe or not it happened again, and this time he alomst get run over by a car. he bounced off the tire and just about 2 inched he would've be dead. The driver of that car did not even stop. I was emotional, so I threw the leash at that car and yelled, mtherfucker.

After that I went and pick up my dog and rushed in the Hospital loacted inside of the Pet-smarts.

They x-rayed my dog and was told he is fine.

What kind of day is this?

I’m mulling over the idea of getting a second dog. I have a dog now, a dachshund. She’ll be almost a year old when I would bring this “maybe” second pup into my life.

So, for anyone who has ever brought another dog into a home with an existing dog…what effect did this have on the first dog? Did he/she seem happier? Glad to have a canine playmate? Confused? Depressed? Scared? I’m fully aware that dogs are pack animals and it is natural for them to live together, but I can’t help but worry.

Also, what effect did it have on his/her relationship with you? Did you stay close, or did both dogs grow a bit more distant from you? I always worried that if they have each other, they won’t need me! Haha, that sound a little selfish, but that was my thought. I love her very much and I would hate our “relationship” to be negatively affected.

I’ve always only had one dog at a time, so anything else you can tell me about having more than one dog would be very helpful!

A couples times a day for the last couple of days, my Pitbull puppy (1 yr old) has been gagging up this white foam. It doesnt seem to be related to him eating or drinking. I saw another answer on here that said it might me chronic tracheitis/tonsilitis... is that serious? Do I need to take him to the vet or is there something I can do for him? Otherwise he seems to be ok.

Earlier today, One of my bigger dogs were eating a little piece of chicken and I think my smaller dog may have swallowed it whole and may be stuck. He has been acting different, he usually is very active and messes with the cat but now he is depressed and is also sneezing, drooling, and his mouth is more watery than usual. I am wondering if these are things he would be doing if that happened or if it is something else. Also what would I be able to do to help him, preferebly without going to the vet since we are low on money. Please only answer with a logical answer, help is greatly appreciated.

I got a beagle pup from a kennel that wasn't especially clean. It keeps me up at night when it starts the scratching and crying. It doesn't have fleas. It doesn't have any rashes. I gave it a flea bath and also washed it in Paramite solution (for mites.) That didn't seem to help. Teh dog stays in the house. Now I'm getting little bumps on my skin that are itchy. They look like little pimples and have clear liquid inside. Can anyone diagnose this and tell me what I can do to fix the problem? Besides getting rid of the dog.

How can I stop my one year lab male to stop fear barking all the time? He gets really scetched out by most noises in my apartment complex, growls and barks, his haunches go up and I can never get him to calm down, or forget about the noises...I've tried treats, but thats just rewarding the behavior, I've tried ignoring it and letting him work it out, but my neighbors cant take too much of that, I dont want to give him any negative consequences like a bark collar or yelling at him, because that'll only make it worse, I'm just at a loss, recently I've just been putting him in a time out and letting him be....any hints??
