Earlier today, One of my bigger dogs were eating a little piece of chicken and I think my smaller dog may have swallowed it whole and may be stuck. He has been acting different, he usually is very active and messes with the cat but now he is depressed and is also sneezing, drooling, and his mouth is more watery than usual. I am wondering if these are things he would be doing if that happened or if it is something else. Also what would I be able to do to help him, preferebly without going to the vet since we are low on money. Please only answer with a logical answer, help is greatly appreciated.

There was no bone in the piece of chicken and the piece of chicken was the size of a quarter, he is a chiuahua(spelling?) If it is caught can it eventually go down?

If it was stuck, he would have choked. If its in the other tube, remove all food from his reach. Dont feed him for a day or two. Give him PLENTY of water. Check his throat to see if you see anything. If you do, try and get it out if it is in reach.(I did this with my old dog.)

If you cant see anything, and his condition doesn't improve in 1 or 2 days, it may be a serious problem. It may have been spoiled chicken. He could have also eaten other foods, like chocolate or caffeine. Caffeine makes my chiquaqua sick for a while. Chocolate in a little dogs system is also not to good.

Bottom line--- water water water. And vet, if necessary. Money or no money, this is a life your talking about :-\

Animals are somewhat like people. When they need medical care they cost money and unfortunately, more than it costs to get a doctor to treat a human being because most animals cannot get medical insurance to cut the cost of their care.
It is best to turn the dog over to an animal shelter if one cannot pay the cost of care for what may be a physical obstruction in this dogs digestive tract or intestinal tract. That is the only way to keep the animal from suffering more if something is physically wrong. Too many animals in one household is not good if funds are unavailable for their care. The dog may perish anyway unless the problem goes away by itself, which is not likely in this case.

He may have an upset stomach. Does he eat and drink? Does he pee and poop? Where do you think it is stuck and was it boneless? I called an emergency animal clinic once and got a little reasurance from a nurse. Perhaps you could just discuss the symtpoms and learn what to watch for to know when/ if a vet visit is needed.

It's spelled Chihuahua. Take the dog to a vet or at least call one and explain the situation to them. Things stuck in the throat is a problem, and can lead to more serious things.

First look in the dogs mouth to see if he has a bone or something stuck in his teeth or perhaps across his upper jaw. If not then get him to the vets. He may be drooling because he can't swallow due to something stuck in this throat. In either case you dog needs medical treatment quick.

Please, even tho you are low on money, make payments if you need to-get that dog to the vet asap!! Why? "Cause the dog may have a piece of that bone caught in it's jaw or throat, and need the professional to take care of it. Take care.
