I got a beagle pup from a kennel that wasn't especially clean. It keeps me up at night when it starts the scratching and crying. It doesn't have fleas. It doesn't have any rashes. I gave it a flea bath and also washed it in Paramite solution (for mites.) That didn't seem to help. Teh dog stays in the house. Now I'm getting little bumps on my skin that are itchy. They look like little pimples and have clear liquid inside. Can anyone diagnose this and tell me what I can do to fix the problem? Besides getting rid of the dog.

Sorry honey, but you and your pup have scabies! You need to take your pup to the vet for a skin scraping to confirm it, but it sounds like and obvious case and then your pup will need a series of ivermectin injections. YOU need to go to the doctor ASAP and they can prescribe a lotion for you. You need to bleach or get rid of all bedding (yours and pups) and toys and disinfect your house VERY CAREFULLY, for now confine your pu to the bathroom or kitchen those areas are easier to clean.

I have experienced the same thing with my pitbull. It is a case of dry skin. Go to Petco or somewhere big like that for animals and tell them you're looking for Nutricoat. It is a fatty oil liquid supplement you put on there food according to the dog's weight. There are other brands as well but this one is around $9 a bottle. It worked wonders for my dog's skin and stopped that obsessive scratching you referred to. Good luck! Keep your dog, lose the itch.

I don't know what is causing your skin problems, please call and ask the vet about it. Also, please, while you are at it, take your pup to the vet about it too. There is probably an easy soluiton-and not getting rid of the pup. As for crying, it's a pup. Maybe a wind up alarm clock to represent the beating of a heart will help for comfort. Take care.

I am not sure what could be causing your rash. It is possible that the shapmoo you used on the puppy could be making you break out. You should see your regular doctor about that. As for your puppy, he needs to be seen by a vet. Itching isn't normal and your vet can help the puppy.

I had the same problem with my pug until I bought Cortaid intensive therapy cooling spray. It's in the drug store area of wal-mart. After a few days of spraying her everytime she started itching the skin began to heal and it tastes terrible, so she quit biting herself. They also have a dog version of this med, but its more expensive.

Could be anything from food allergies to mange to skin problems. Your pup needs to see a vet.

As for you, it could be sensitivity/allergies to his fur (I break out in a similar way when my skin touches my dog's short fur too) or you could have bed bugs causing both your problems!

Both you and your dog need to seek medical advice.
Get your dog to the vets and find out what is making him itch so much. Then get to your doctor and find out if your dog gave you something.
