We have a 3 year old dog who has never had any type of allergic reaction before. We boarded him a month or so back while my hubby was in hospital. A couple of days after we him up from the vet he started gnawing patches of hair off his backside. I took him to vet and was told he was allergic to fleas. Help.

I am concerned that my dog might be too agressive. He is a jack russel terrier and very sweet. but sometimes he gets too excited and bites me and my husband. he is just a little puppy so it doesn't hurt too bad. i just want to train him right and not have him turn out agressive. we are aware that jack russells are sometimes hard to train. but we are willing to leanr and train properly, no matter how time consuming.
any advice?
ps- we do no want to use any hitting on the puppy.

My pitbull is a year and a half and just recently I have noticed that she sounds like a cat coughing up a hairball once in a while. It is just whenever, not after anything specific. She still runs around all day and is normal after rough play. Sometimes she makes the noise after a long workout, after eating, and sometimes just walking around. It doesn't seem like it bothers her, and I don't notice it more often. She still sleeps through the night... I was just wondering what it could be.

It's supposed to be the size of about an acorn, but should be inverted, not popping out. She's been licking it, and recently, I took her to the dog park, and all the dogs were licking her (cause that's what the males do). She is fixed since I got her...help!

We are having a baby soon. The dog licks the carpet constantly and we don't want her doing this, especially with a baby soon to be crawling aroud on it. We don't want to get rid of her, but this is beginning to create real problems.

I myself do not approve of cropping a dog's ears, nor do i have any dogs whose ears have been cropped. It wouldnt matter if I rescued one that had its ears cropped already, I just wouldnt be so cruel to do it myself.

I was having a disagreement with a friend, she says that dogs get their ears cropped between 12-16 weeks, but everything i have ever read/known about says within the first 1-2 weeks, so they arent as traumatized, and so it doesnt hurt as bad for them in the long run.

What is the proper age???

I would appreciate answers from people who have bred, are in the veterinary business, or know personally from their pet(s).

What do you think about getting a bark collar for your dog? What's been your experience. I'm hesitant to get one, and feel it's on the cruel side. Your opinion . . . please!

First of all, don't worry, I already have a vet appointment....

In the meantime, I would like some suggestions as to why my dog has bald spots on his body. On two of his legs, he has patches in which the hair has fallen out. It feels smooth like a scar, but it has the coloration of a scab (yellow/brownish). I was thinking this may be some type of worm, maybe ringworm. Could that be correct? Have any of you experienced this? What else might cause this hair loss?

*He is a short-haired dog--lab/pit mix 2 years old.
*We have him on a top-quality brand of food.
*We give him baths about once a month with Hertz brand shampoo.
*We use a heartworm/other parasite preventative medication once a month.

Both my dobermans have pushed aside the wirescreen in my kitchen window, so in the morning i will be making a coffee and look up to see my baby girls staring at me with their heads on the window sill with tails going furiously. My bull arab will be sitting on the ground behind them with his bowl, having moved it from across the yard. The springer spaniel is looking at me from the back door with the saddest look on her face that only a spaniel can do. The lab cross is annoying the hell out of the bull arab by trying to get a look in his bowl to see if he has been feed yet. It makes me laugh every morning and sometimes its the bull arab with his head in the window, there is drool dripping into my sink, his head takes up the whole window and the dobes are the ones with their bowls. Anyone else have a ridiculous scenario that greets them at meal times?
