I just got a new pup, she is about 7 months old, never been in a home, we suspect that the dog was abused before we had it.
when we walk into the room is runs to a corner or into another room, when you go to pick her up, shes pees, when we put the leash on her she pees, by the time we get ahold of her and take her outside to use it, she just stands there...
PLEASE ANY ADVICE, she is not neutered or anything like that...
We do have another dog in the house, and she is confortable around him, and when he is around she will come around, we can get in the floor an she will lick on your face and act a lil sociable, but when choppie is not around she will not do anything but run...

We have had for almost a week now you can pick her up and hold her or put her on the bed and she just lays or sets there really still, almost like a 'play dead mode' which i dont think is normal.
She is a boxer, lab, pitbull mix. She needed a good home and thats what i hoped to give her...

Please HELP

I love the breed and the wrong people are getting a hold of this breed. I wish they would stop trying to ban these wonderful dogs and start banning people from owning them. I own a 2 year old female american pit bull terrier and she is the best dog I could have ever asked for. She is very loving and loyal not to mention very intelligent. I just wanted to know what everyone else feels about this breed. Please do not be rude or inconsiderate.

The townhouse we live in has a piece of crap oven and it is very easy to burn food when you cook in it. I started noticing recently that our dog "Mitch" shakes horribly and cowards in the corner whenever something burns and he smells the smallest amount of smoke. I'm not talking about a cloud of smoke, just the smell of something burning and its any kind of smoke. Even the smoke that comes off a blown out candle. And it is not something that passes quickly, he is obvious distress for a significant amount of time. I don't want him to be scared and I really want to know what is causing this. We bought him from a very respectable breeder when he was 10 weeks old and he has never been mistreated in anyway and everything is up to date as far as vet procedures go. I just really don't understand.

Hello all Husky owners,

I have heard that the Husky breed is NEVER good off leash. They just take off and run away, even if they have a decent recall.

I wanted to know how many of you people that own a Husky and live in a city has a Husky that IS good off leash, like at dog parks, in your own front yard etc.

Thanks a bunch! =D

3 golden retrievers(1m 2 f) no chance of pups(all safe) 2 olde English Bulldogs(one litter of 3 pups. Second had litter of 2 pups after an emergency csection totalling $2100.00 for overnight vet clinic stay) 1 St. Bernard that fathered both litters. TOTAL= 11 dogs>>> The girl can't afford the home as things are WITHOUT the dogs let alone with them. Are there any websites that could prove the negatives that will/are far outweigh(ing) the positives? I am an animal lover who would NEVER deny ANYONE the love for a pet or 2. THIS situation is ridiculous bordering on the absurd. She is a single 41 yo woman who has no life besides work. Maintains a fulltime job but is in debt over her head. Does anyone know of any websites or possibly could share any/all info concerning the negatives or the downside of this situation? This is a serious problem in need of a serious solution. Perhaps if she reads it here, she'll reconsider . Needless to say, Serious responses will be greatly appreciated

Okay, so this happened when I was twelve or so, but just recently I remembered about it and was curious to see what other opinions were.

I have a golden retriever (Lucky). When he was about one year old, he had this fetish with tearing up pillows when we weren't home. He's a very sweet dog, though. But one time he tore up this doll thing that my mom had sitting in her room (it wasn't sentimental, just something she liked), and she totally blew up. She brought the half-chewed toy downstairs and waved it in his face saying, "Bad!" and then slapped him on the muzzle. Now, normally, this wouldn't bother me because it's his normal punishment for doing something bad. But then she kept smacking him on the nose, harder and harder, until she had backed him into a corner with no way out. By this time she was really screaming at him, and he was shaking like crazy. (I was watching in horror from the steps, and I swear, I had never seen him so scared.) I kept screaming at my mom to stop, but she refused.

Lucky's snout curled into a snarl once or twice, warning her to stop. She didn't. And so, out of self defense, he bit her hand when she went in to slap him in the face for the umpteenth time. Now, granted, this wasn't a full on attack or anything, and she wasn't bleeding like crazy, either. My mom screamed at him harder, and by this point I couldn't stand it, so I called his name and let him come upstairs with me, listening to my mom still yelling after him. I closed the door and tried my best to make him feel safe.

Now what I want to know is, can you really blame Lucky for biting her hand? (It wasn't even go-to-the-doctor bad) I don't think it was, but I want to know what you guys think.

PS. Just in case you're wondering, he's stopped the pillow thing because he has another dog to play with now. And he really is sweet, so he's never done anything like that except for that one time.
