Ask your dad for a 2 months trial to help teach her some manners and teach her how to behave, if she does not improve than agree to rehome
You will have to teach her some basic obedience commands search the internet on clicker training there are some video on www.youtube.com due a search under clicker training to see how it is done. A clicker only costs a couple $
You are have to teach her that she is not in command that she has to earn rights
using a "nothing in Life is Free" program http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm
You need to spend at least 20 minutes 3 times a day on training alone
Exercise, you have a dog that is very bored, she needs exercise which means running and walk at minimum 3 hours a day , the other training mentioned above helps to exercise her brain.
As she gets learning some commands then you have to apply them when she meets people teaching her to sit and lay quietly. When ever she is in the yard you must be out there with her supervising and correcting barking and rewarding when quiet, playing games like fetch so she is learning to do things other than bark and dig. If she jumps babygates you may have to put 2 in a door way one on top of the other so it becomes too high to jump or you need to use a crate, for when no one is home, the more time and work you put into training and exercising her the better a dog she will become, You did not say how old she is if she is 8 or 9 months to 2 years old she is a wild teenager and will settle down a lot by the time she hits 3 years old sooner with a lot of training and exercise to help wear off some of her energy.
Goodluck

The first thing I would do is to sign up for obedience classes. They are not terribly expensive. Or if you are very motivated yourself, you can buy dvds and books to help you. You didn't mention her breed, but one other thing that is very important is that your dog is getting sufficient exercise. When I owned my GSD, what I had to do was take him to a 'safe' place every morning and walk for an hour (at least) with him off-lead. If there were other people and dogs there, so much the better - I used to call it 'walking his legs off'. I arose at 6am so that I had time to do it before I had to get ready for work. I did this rain/shine/wind/hail/snow, EVERYTHING - you just need proper clothing and you'll be fine. I had some neighbours with big dogs, and eventually our group grew to 6-10 people and dogs, and every morning we would walk them and let them wrestle and run and play. Then, right after supper, I would do the same thing again. A bored and restless dog is an accident waiting to happen. Dogs historically have all had jobs. Today however we are asking them to share our homes, with little or no job for them to perform. Personally I never tie a dog. That can really bring out not only aggression, but also fear. So go to your dad and suggest the obedience classes and if you combine that with more exercise than you can possibly think that the dog needs - really, 2 hours of being super active a day will go a long way to settling her down. If your dad can see how dedicated you are to helping with her care and training, I think he will give it a chance. If you don't have an obedience class starting up in your area right away, you can start the super-exercising immediately. Plus it is all good for you too. I wish you the best of luck dear.

I agree that your best bet is obedience training. Talk to your dad in a mature reasonable manner about the giving you the time to properly train Lilly and either you paying for the training or working out a repayment arrangement.
If he agrees, show him that you are serious about keeping your dog and her training by working with her every day. Show him the results of what she's learning.
But foremost, remember that he is your father and ultimately responsible for Lilly's behavior. If she were to seriously bite someone, it would be your father who would be responsible. If he does make the decision to find Lilly a new home, remember that one day you'll be responsible for yourself and your pets and able to make your own decisions.

Dogs are men's best friend!! Would you give a human away? No. He needs to get out a newspaper or something. Not be harsh, but get her attention and make her learn. Also obedient school. Beg your parents and say you will give your allowance or do lots of chores around the house.

What breed of dog is Lilly? Ask your father if you can get a crate to put her in when you have company and when you leave the house. How long have you had her and how old is she? Tell your dad it will break your heart to loose her. Ask him if you can earn the $$$$ to take her to obedience training. Good luck!!!!

talk to your dad and tell him how you feel about it and let him know you are putting into action a plan to teach the dog how to behave better, here are some ideas, call the dog training places see how much it would cost to take the class, tell them what is going on and you need help ,they will give you ideas what to do ,don't stop till you find someone to help keep asking and telling till you find what you need, watch the dog whisperer,he has all the ideas you need ,get books to read at the library, get online and look up sites on how to train, get some snacks and do it every day make sure you dad sees you working, ask him to help ask any other family to help ..if its important to you do all you can ask every one you know what to do ,where to go etc then put you best plans into action , ask him to give you some time agree to a determined amount of time and tell him why good luck

She needs obedience school. Tell your dad you will pay for it. Pet Smart offers classes for dogs. Ask for the chance that obedience school can help her before he gives her away.

Is she spayed? That can have a lot to do with her attitude. Also obedience training is a big part of it too.
