A "teacup" is an unofficial term usually used to describe a dog that is under 4 lbs and under 7 inches tall.

A lot of times when people say they want teacups, they really want tiny toys which are 5-6 lbs. A true teacup is prone to hypoglycemia which is a drop in blood sugar that can actually kill the puppy. If you do get a teacup-- learn about how to care for a hypoglycemic drop! Also a teacup adult can not even go up and down stairs. Teacups may have health problems and a shorter life span than larger poodles.

The links below do not look like puppy mills to me, but be sure to see the parents--- to see what the puppy will look like full grown and to make sure the parents are in good health.

Good luck finding a puppy!

Often, "teacup" dogs are very prone to several kinds of health problems. To get a "teacup" dog, often runts are bred to runts. Usually, you will find that runts are less healthy then their larger brothers and sisters, and more prone to health issues.

Less reputable breeders often will breed father to daughter, or brother to sister, in order to keep the pups coming smaller and smaller.

Any breeder whose major selling points are size or color are probably not going to be breeding for sound health and temperments.
