This answer differs depending on the circumstances. The ideal age is 6 months, but if they mature earlier, then they may be done at any age after 5 months of age. They can't be spayed while they are in heat, because the risk of significant bleeding is too great. Mine have all been all right until they have been around 6 months or so, Good luck and congrats on being a responsible pet owner!!!

I was told between 4-6 monthes. Don't wait for her to go into hetah though. Nowadays they spay puppies as young as I think 8 or 12 weeks. Certain vet's offices or spaying clinic require different age requirements. Just call the one you plan to use and ask them.

That depends on who you ask...some say after her first heat, to let her get some hormones going. Some say, before the first heat. Also, sometimes the baby teeth don't fall out on their own so you can wait till about 8 months to see if they are all out on their own, if not, the vet will take them out at the same time as the spay so they don't have to put the dog under general anesthesia twice. Its really up to you and your vet to see what is best for your dog. I know that if you get it done before her first heat, the risk of her getting cancer in the mammary glands is 0.05%. If you wait till her first heat, it goes up to 8%, still quite low. However if she has more then 2 heats there is a chance 1 in 4 dogs will get it. I would get her spayed either before her first heat or after but before her second. Also you have to wait 2 month after her first heat so her uterus can go back to normal size. Good luck to you and puppy :)

6 months is the average age. I got my first pup from the pound at 8 weeks old. Because she was a pound pup they had already spayed her (at 8 weeks) My pup had nothing but serious problems her whole life.. She died at 18 months old due to colon cancer. We can never prove this but my vet and the oncolagist who treated her both said it was possibly due to her being nicked on the bowel when she was spayed because at 8 weeks they are way to young and not as developed for spaying as they should be.

It depends on how big your puppy is. you should wait unti he/she gets older so then you can see. most times puppies get sold at around age 6 months, so im thinking you should get your puppy spayed around 7 to 8 months. Hope that helped!

As soon as possible. I think this is around 3 or 4 months old. They charge by pound, since it takes more medicine to put your dog under for the procedure, so the longer you wait the more it will cost.
