I actually have 2 doxies, and I had the same problem. Even though it may cause a headache at first, I found that it is best to keep them in a crate next to my bed. (They whined even worse when I had them out in the living room.) It is important to stick with training your puppy in the crate, don't give in to her whining by letting her sleep with you, or she'll never learn. Try sewing a small ticking clock into a sock because it is said to sound like the mother's heart. Make sure to have plenty of soft blankets in the crate because doxies like to burro...makes them feel safe. I also put baby bumper pads around the inside of my dogs' crate to add security. I also found it quite helpful to put in a piece of clothing that smelled like me for them to sleep with. If your dog is a chewer, you might just want to take a cheap piece if fabric and put it with some laundry that you wore to get your smell on it. Might sound weird, but it works. Your puppy may still whine, but if you remain consistant with a routine of giving her time to go potty, then putting her into the crate, saying time to go to bed and pet her while she's in there with above items (try each one out to see what helps, even a little, at first) and if she whines when you move away use a stern, but quiet "NO, shhhh, time to go to sleep," then as hard as it may be, do not respond to the whining thereafter (unless she has been quiet and sleeping for a while, then begins to whine, you may want to let her try to go potty). If the dog is not getting a response, then she will eventually learn. Most of all it takes patience. Good luck, this is a wonderful breed, and they learn quickly with routine.

Try putting a stuffed toy, her size, in with her. Also put a ticking clock in the crate, what is even better is to put the clock inside the stuffed animal.
This gives her company, as a litter mate, and she can hear the heart beat (the clock). She won't feel so alone. She is used to having her litter mates and mama.
You might even try playing a radio low, in the same room. Puppies like classic music.

seven weeks is still a puppy. Puppies need to pee at one in the morning. And of course she will whine if she's in her crate. But a few rough nights in the crate for the two of you will save you from alot of hassle later on. Puppies like hot water bottles, to warm themselves with. Give her something to do (like hiding treats in a blanket) to keep her busy in her crate until she gets bored and tires out. Earplugs are a favorite of mine, too.

i've heard a loudly ticking clock helps. But my Dachsund HAS to be under a blanket and on an elevated surface like a bed or a couch.

Why can't she just sleep with you each night? My dog sleeps with me on my bed each night. I have a special blanket for him that I put on my bed so he doesn't ruin my covers, and he is as happy as can be. You'll probably be a lot happier as will be your dog. =)
