I have tried to take him on on walks and would like him to walk by my side but he almost chokes himself walking way ahead of me. I have tried working with him by gently pulling him if he gets to far ahead. He is far too distracted to pay attention to me when he is outside. Any tips for keeping his attention so he will learn to walk on a loose lead?

mom and babies are all doing great, but i noticed some little bumps on the head of one today. any thoughts? the mom is a blue and all the puppies are also blue. i am familiar with alopecia that can affect blues, but do not think it can occur this early. thanks.

Iv had my dog for a year now. I found him in my apartment complex, when no one claimed him i decided to keep him. I believe he's a pitbull/chow mix, not positive though and i think he's probly 1 1/2 to 2 years old. So far hes been a very good dog he came potty trained pretty well mannered except for a few things. he seems to be very agressive towards other dogs though iv never seen him bite first he does try to challenge the other dogs i guess you could say, he humps other male dogs, people say thats agressive behavier but what really concerns me is his agression towards my little brother who's 13. For some reason my dog sometimes is ok with my brother but other times if my brother trys to pet him he'll growl and tonight he actually nipped my bro in the face, it didnt draw blood but it sure did scare me and my brother. He isnt like that with anyone else in the house, actually he isnt like that with anyone else ever. Will getting him fixed solve this problem? any suggestions will help.

I bought a seven month old Yorkie two weeks ago, and now she's eight months old. She will occasionally do her business on the wee wee pad, but most of the time she will go where ever she pleases. At the pet store, she wasn't trained on paper or the pads, so I'm finiding it very difficult, especially because she wasn't taught at an early age.

I had no problems training my 8 week old Maltese 3 years ago, and am wondering how I can teach her to do it the correct way. I tried firmly saying no and giving her a little flick on the nose, but it doesnt seem to be helping.

I have also placed the wee wee pad where she usually goes most. For example, she always seems to do her business right next to the couch, so I placed the pad there, but she will then just find another spot. Please help!!!

All these Pit bull attacks within the past day or so. See google news link below. What do you think about pit bull attacks. SHould the dogs be euthanized immediately or kept for months in "corrections"? Should pit bulls be banned?

My 6 week old puppy has contracted the parvo virus from her litter mates when I tried to rescue them from a neglectful home. I got her when she was 2 weeks old. The puppies were being starved to death. I took them and rushed them to the vet, but it was to late for them. She was happy and healthy weighing 6 lbs. Where as they weighed only 2 lbs. The vet said she contracted the virus from my clothing despite the fact that she had been vaccinated. I'm keeping her hydrated with pedialyte and special nutrients from the vet. Is their anything else I can do to help her here at home? She has another appt. with the vet in the morning. Thanks sooo much.

Hi all,

My baby (Skippy - RIP) a German Shepherd died today of lymphoma cancer which is extremely prevalent in dogs and particularly in the larger breeds. This recent loss has been extremely traumatic for me and I can't stop crying. I've had her since I was a kid and now I'm in my early 20's. She was like a best friend, loyal, intelligent, obedient, and so forth; there was so many moments that I considered her a sister. All of this is hard to get over with and I am completely devastated, and can't bare to comprhened anything else as this recent loss is the only thing on my mind.

My question is; to those of you who have lost a loved one (pet) how did you cope with it, the trauma and emotional pain?

Thanks all.

one week old ACD runt pup, crys the whole time she nurses. she was about 1/2 the size of her 5 other litter mates, hairless and bright red at birth. we've really been through it! i keep her isolated with heat (the others "dog pile" on top of her and push her of off mom) except for quality time with mom while the others sleep. she nurses so hard, pumping with both feet while vigorously sucking and pulling....and squeeling all the while! after all that work i hate to feed formula, but we'll do what it takes.her suckers working fine, you should hear the racket! mom could get up and walk around and never lose the little leech! ha ha, a little humor for my nearves. she's still almost hairless, some has grown though, no longer red, but still about 1/2 of the size of the other beasts! she has alot of heart, defeat is NOT an option! thanks for suggestions

hi guys! my baby, her name is minnime, and i are from colorado. because of my big yard i could always walk her, i took her out all throughout the day so she never went to the bathroom in the house. i now live in new york and do not have a yard (of course) and i want to train her to use a wee wee pad. one day i set a wee wee pad down and didn't take her out for 8 hours. i felt sooo bad because i knew she had to go. i gave up and took her out. i hate taking her out in this neighborhood because the kids like to scare her or play with her while she is doing the do, she looks uncomfortable too . how can i teach my baby to go to the bathroom indoors?
