Terrier is a group of dogs not a specific breed. Most terrier breeds are not white.

Miniature Shcnauzers are terriers and are black, silver or salt and peper. White is considered a fault.

The white ones were bred to be white on purpose, so that they are easily seen in the field when they are working. That is also why many hunting dogs have white tips on their tails..
