We heard that next Tuesday is a day when vets will charge 25% less to have pets fixed. We thought our vet said to wait until they were 4 months old. Anyone have any knowledge on this subject?

hello,
I have researched the internet and have had no luck, im from New Zealand and i have purchased a MALTESE puppy of a regestred breeder she is a good trusted breeder, but the puppy i put my name on i choose which was the smallest of the littler is now 5 weeks old and shows only 45% pigment so the majority of her nose is still pink, i know this beacuse my breeder sends me photos and weight measurments each week, and she has also told me that she is concerned about her pigment....

CAN anyone tell me WHY my puppy is not showing the correct pigment she should compared to her littler mates....????

Thankyou.

I'm fixing to get both a night job and a house of my own. This wasn't entirely forseen a month and a half ago when I got myself a papillon, now 4months old. Now, in order to keep her happy while I'm at work I want to get her a friend to keep her company, because my cat so won't be willing to make nice when she wants to play. He's a big fluffy grey thing with the temperment that I associate with rag-dolls, though his parentage is entirely unbeknownst to me.

We live out in the "woods" in the south, and that means that most dogs availible at shelters *what, you thought i was looking to get a PB?* are huntin' dogs like beagles or bassets or along the lines of "badass" like pits or rots. From what is expected to be found, in consideration that they are all mutts, what should I look for that I'll trust will not kill my Papillon in play or vice versa?

I've thought about getting a younger cat, but claws scare me when I'm not around.

I am in the process of weaning my dog onto adult food. She has been on Nutro Ultra Puppy since I've had her from September. I was going to just change to Nutro Ultra Small Breed Adult, but can only seem to find it online. The kibble for the regular N.U. is too big. Anywho... I ended up grapping the Yorkie Royal Canin and she's got some smelly gas going on! Thank God it's not all the time, but I'm wondering if it's from the food. Should I just stick with the N.U. and order it online? And just for the record... I didn't just switch her food, I've been slowly mixing it with her puppy food all week, she still isn't completely on it.

Whenever someone knocks on the door our dog goes crazy. She acts like a "mad dog". Her hair stands up on the back of her neck! Otherwise she is a very sweet dog.

So my fiance and I can not decide on what we want to get. We are buying a house and plan to have children in the future. We have a decent yard that has a stockade fence. Currently have 1 young cat and no other animals. Our top three choices of what we want to get are a labrador or a mastiff or a doberman. All are great dogs with pro's and con's but we would like everyone else's advise. Please help!!!!

Additional Details

So, I just want to thank everyone who has already answered this question and encourage them to re-answer if they prefer. At this point, I found out some more information regarding the above breeds and am not even sure if I want any of them. Come to find out, statistically, a lab is more apt to bite than a doberman, but then why do most families own them? I am obviously confused at this point? Can anyone give any good advise on a good, laid back, medium-large sized, family dog that's well natured? What breed does everyone recommend? Help :) Thanks

i just got a puppie. and she is really sweet. but we don't know for sure what it is. we know she is a boxer mixed with somthing. but to me she dosn't look like a boxer at all. but i don't know what boxer puppies look like? anyways she has really small paws, but if she is part boxer, will she get that big even with her little paws?
and not to be mean but i don't really like boxer dogs, so do you think my non looking boxer puppie will grow up and look like a big full grown boxer? ( and don;'t get me wrong i am already attatched to her so if she turns into a big boxer i won't not like her anymore or get rid of her. i just want to know)

My relative has hired me to walk her husky 2 days a week b/c she doesnt have time to exercise her. She is around 5 years old.

there is a problem. Everytime when I arrived at my relative's house. She keeps barking non-stop in the yard(She is way too happy to see me come). after I entered the yard, she barks even more, and she jumped on me and keep licking me.

Problem 1: it takes me like 15 minutes to put a leash on her since she keeps running aruond and jumping on me. Putting a leash on is like wrestling with her.

Problem 2: when we are outside the house, it seemed like that she is walking me instead of I am walking her. She walks in the front while I tried to keep the speed of her. She just keep pulling me. I always feel like she is going to be off-leash. (She is stronger than me!)

So what should I do? I want her to listen to me, but I dont know how to communicate with her!

Thank you!!

P.S. I dont think this husky is trained b4.

The reason I started this thread was that I came upon Pocket Beagles while attempting to select a breed that would work well for people with musculoskeletal diseases and serious orthopedic injuries, the main treatment of which is frequent daily walks. A medium active dog small enough to live in an apartment happily, but not so small they could be carried or cleaned up after inside would help tremendously because these illnesses produce pain and sometimes depression which amotivates the client from the activity necessary for the slowing and treatment of their disease. For complex reasons, a small hound (Dachshunds are sometimes too small or not active enough, Beagles too active and large, toy Q.E.'s are out of the question, but mini's seem promising) would do the trick. That's when I learned about Q.E.'s and the controversery. If only a "small number" of dogs are bred for working, why not limit deliberate breeeding of dogs to working dogs only?

He is seven months old and has been living in a shelter for his entire life. We are his first real home, I've been reading that most dogs won't go to the bathroom in their den, but he does. Since he's lived in the kennel his entire life he doesn't know to NOT go to the bathroom in his den. If you could provide some tips to make this process faster and easier that would be great! Thanks in advance!

My next door neighbor is an alcoholic and is often angry when he's drunk. We actually get along well, but whenever I've talked to him about his dog barking, he just shrugs it off. The dog barks sometimes at midnight, 1 or 2 A.M. 5 A.M. Sometimes it's for 10 minutes, sometimes a half an hour, sometimes on and off all day.

Here's what I've done to try to deal with this...

I talked to my neighbor a few times about it and asked if he could work on getting the dog not to bark so much. (Having it bark a little is no big deal, but it'll bark for a few hours on and off all day.)

I drove to the police station twice and politely asked them if they could talk to him about it. They did, but it didn't stop, so I called and registered a complaint, but that didn't help. In the last year, I've called them three or four times, but nothing's changed.

I tried to go out when the dog was barking and get it to be quiet, but that hasn't worked.

Nothing's seemd to work.. Any thoughts?

I would like a dog that is small, easily house trained, potty trained, ect. Something cute, probably short haired, not to expensive as in over $500 one that doesn't shed alot, just a home dog.

I have a one year old Goldie, and she is always shaking her head. I know that it's probably her ears, but when I check there is nothing there and they both look completely normal. She's always scratching them, too, but I dont know what it is. She shakes her head every second and I dont know what it could be!

Oke she is almost 3 years old, a Husky/Shepherd cross, and she is currently in heat, and here's what happened. She was lying down and went to get up. Her back arched and she got all tense. She couldn't stay standing and was falling all over the place. She didn't respond to me calling her, and when I finally got her lying down she kept shaking, her pupils were dilated and it passed after a few minutes. It happened about 10 minutes later, except this time she peed and it was pretty much the same after that. Any advice or anything? Was it a seizure? If not, what else could it have been?
