I recently adopted a 1 yr old toy poodle from a rescue shelter and know very little about his health background except that he is fully vaccinated and I took him to a "wellness check" and the dr. said his heart/lungs sound find.

Anyway, when he is sleeping, he'll be very peaceful but every now and again, he starts making this sound, almost like sneezing/snoring and his whole body moves in a slightly "violent" way. It last about 5 seconds and then he goes back to sleeping peacefully. Is this something that should be concerning, or should I just assume it's part of a dream and normal dog sleep behavior?

Yesterday I noticed my dog had a big clump of S**t on its tail. It looked dry so I pulled it off. Turns out the inside was wet... Well now my hand smells like dog crap even after 3 showers. What can I do?

My dog, Skye, is getting beat up on a constant basis by the other dogs. It seems like we almost have to let her out seperate sometimes. It's usually when they are let outside...after they are done relieving themselves, and they start to "play" all of them will gang up on her, have her on the ground, and just beat her up. She constantly has cuts bumps and scratches on her. Nothing serious yet...but "yet" being the key word. Generally they don't draw blood, but you can see where one of the dogs has bit down pretty hard. Today Zoie and Casey jumped on her (I wasn't here...I'm usually not here when things like this happen) and it sounded like a huge dog fight, my neighbor came running. When I came home I checked her out and she did have some "bites" you can see where it's lumpy on the body..just nothing open or bleeding. I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. All dogs currently do NILIF training.

Last night I went to check up on my chihuahua, who was sleeping, and she was growling and crying softly as she slept. But her eyes were closed! I didn't know dogs had dreams...can they have nightmares too?

my 4 month old puppy urinates a lot more than she used to.
however, she goes on the peepee pad and she doesnt seem like shes in any pain. (no whinning or whimpering..)
she drinks a good amount of water, eats well..etc.
is it because her body is maturing? are these changes normal?

Hello, I need help finding the breed of my recently deceased dog. She was my best freind, my protector and my pride and joy. I lost her to lymphoma and know she is irriplaceble, but me and my fiance would love to bring another furry buddy similar to her, so that we can love and spoil. We rescued her from SPCA weighing at 98 pounds. Pictures are in link below. Any help is very much appreciated.

We just got a dog. She is a pug-chiuaua mix. She loves my mom, and follows her everywhere. I say nice things to her and give her treats, but she always growls and barks at me, and she bit my hand when I tried to pet her.

People say not to leave your small dog outside without watching over the dog.Because Hawks prey on them and will eat them.
Do you think this is true? Do you know anyone that has experienced this?

If these so called animal lovers love animals so much, why don't they go to local pound and rescue and adopt these animals we already have. put a ban on selling kennels breeding for a few years. there are far to many strays out on our streets. if the animal lovers don't take them all....lets declare hunting seasons on them

She is 5 months old and we also have a 10 month old (m) Yellow Lab. He has started paying particular attention to her rear end but her behavior has not changed a bit. Se has a relatively high energy level and always jumps and bites on him. My concern is that suddenly he is paying particular attention to her hind parts. What do you suggest?

I have a 14 week old Boxer, and he threw up yesterday and today. His stool is slightly softer than normal. He's acting completely fine, eating and drinking like normal. I don;t think he needs to go to emergency animal hospital, so I can;t get him into the vet until tomorrow.

Any ideas on how I can help at home? Can i give him rice, or something along those lines to ease his stomach?

Yesterday, our 8 week old Maltese X Shihtzu female puppy may have been attacked by our 17 month old Maltese X Mini Foxie (who is also a female and in heat at the moment). We believe it was over a bone. The puppy was really scared (she may have a dislocated jaw) & we had to leave her overnight at the vet. The older dog has never done anything like this before, is of friendly-temperment & has really been looking after the puppy since we first got her. When we took the puppy home today, the older dog reacted nurturingly to her but the puppy was scared. Will the puppy always remember what happened and will she always be afraid of our older puppy? They got along beautifully & were very fond of each other until yesterday. The older dog doesn't seem to remember any hostility towards the puppy. Can someone please help? Serious answers only.

I know someone who has routinely lied and made up accomplishments about her dogs. I just don't get it.

Her dogs seem great and they DO great stuff. But she can never just qualify at an obedience trial, she has to tell folks she placed second in it, etc...same with agility and other events.

If you have a great dog and she is truly wonderful--why would anyone feel the need to lie and make stuff up about her accomplishments?

And wouldn't you worry that someone would realize what you claim was not possible and confront you?

She seems so nice I don't want to her her feelings, but someone else might slam her the next time she brags about placing at an event.

What should i do?

We recently adopted a golden retriever that was severly abused. Goldens usually love the water, but he does not due to the way his abusive parents bathed him. So far he is very friendly when he is sitting down and is accepting to petting and touch. However, when he is standing, he will scurry from you if you get too close. We have only had him for a week so we expect him to be scared of us, but does anyone have any tips for bathing and also any on how to break that fear barrier that causes him to scurry from us? Thanks
