Not planning on breeding, just asking breeders.....

When I was young, we had a dog that would have nothing to do with her puppies...any reason why? We actually had to hold her and make her lay there to feed them. As far as we could tell, there were no signs!

There is no way to know for sure, but usually if the mother is fairly easygoing, not aggressive, not too hyper, and "motherly" (will sort of mother other animals) than they will be good mothers, but not always. Most of the females that I have seen that are bad mothers are young (less than 2 years), extremely hyper, and very clingy to their owners. Also, usually if the dog had a good mother they will be a good mother too. There are exceptions to every rule, but in my experience what I have listed before is usually an indication of how they will behave.

well how is she to you? if the dog is protective, that is a good sign and if she is friendly she will love her pups.

But you never really now you just have to see what the dogs instincts tell them to do.

your dog will always be ready to have babies you just know in your heart, when shes ready your ready and she will just automatically be "born ready" so no worries i had a dog once with bad behavior and i thought that she was going to be a not so good mom but she was wonderful to her children loving, caring, sweet and all the qualities a mother needs
