I recently adopted a 1 yr old toy poodle from a rescue shelter and know very little about his health background except that he is fully vaccinated and I took him to a "wellness check" and the dr. said his heart/lungs sound find.

Anyway, when he is sleeping, he'll be very peaceful but every now and again, he starts making this sound, almost like sneezing/snoring and his whole body moves in a slightly "violent" way. It last about 5 seconds and then he goes back to sleeping peacefully. Is this something that should be concerning, or should I just assume it's part of a dream and normal dog sleep behavior?

Most likely dreaming but, Because you mention violent I would say to at the least call and ask your vet to make sure of our hopefulness here as to dreaming. My dogs also dream but not in the fashion you mention and I have had many dogs and cats etc.
Good luck to you and your little buddy.

That's normal behavior for dogs. They do dream too. My wife and I have a couple Chihuahua's and they do that all the time. They'll whimper and growl and kick their little feet. Nothing to worry about at all. So rest easy. 8) Hope that helps.

Yep your right it is part of REM or dream time in there sleep.
puppies also do it to help with their fine motor skill development.
Dn't worry it is very normal though can make for an upset sleep for you if they sleep with you.
My dog kept me awake almost all night having dreams and squeeking the night beofre my wedding.

My dogs do the same thing every once in a while. It is just from them dreaming and it is nothing to worry about.

No worries.
My dog does that at times too, they're really just dreaming.
My dog sometimes let out gas while he's sleeping too.
Really weird to witness that..but they're fine..
Your poodle's A-ok.

As you watch your dog, you'll get a better handle on what's normal for him. To me, it sounds like doggy dreams. I've often wondered what my guys are chasing as I watch them in their sleep.

He is dreaming. I have a greyhound and she wins races in her sleep, four legs and tail going like crazy... it's weird to watch at first but perfectly normal.

Probably is REM. I don't know what you call "voilent". Mention it to your vet. My friend's boxer has epileptic seizures in his sleep that look like "violent" REM. When in doubt, ask your vet always.
