Temps are in the low teens and single digits here. When we go back in the house he's fine, and I immediately wash his feet off. I've though about maybe putting baby socks on him before we go out-is this a good idea?

What can i do? My dog will not listen, to anyone. If I say sit, he will just stare at you. If I say lie down, he will just stare at me? If I out (out of my room) he will just stare at me? But if I tell him to kennel he will go, if I say outside or hungry, he will respond. He is a big dog (120 lbs), and he is a great dane/black lab 6 years old. I know he can hear me but he chooses not to. I know my parents never paid attention to him when he was living with them, could that have an effect on him? I need to do something, this is really driving me nuts that he wont listen to me.

My 4 mo old Shih-Tzu some times drags her back legs, especially after napping. She also does not seem to have good control over them.as her back end some times falls over to one side. Is this normal for a Shih-Tzu puppy? She has a vet appt this week but I am anxious what he might say. Any information would be appreciated?

I recently had shoulder surgery and have been home all day for the last 2 months. I have recently started therapy twice a week and am gone for about 2-3 hours. I come home to find couch pillows torn up, shoes chewed and throw blankets ripped apart. I have never had a problem with them chewing things. I don't know what i am going to do when i have to return to work, I don't want to have to kennel them when i am gone. About the same time i had surgery one of my children and their 2 children moved in with me. Until the kids moved in the dogs had their own bedroom with a queen size mattress for them to sleep on, now they just sleep wherever. They seem to enjoy all the attention the get from the kids they just have a problem when left alone.

I have a 7 month old beagle puppy, he has recently been getting up at 630 in the morning, because he wants to go out and be fed, he used to wake up at 8 when i did. I was wondering what i could do to get him back on the old schedule. I've tried running him a lot to wear him out before bed, but nothing seems to make him sleep in. Does any one have any advice. We usually go to bed around 12 or 1 am.

I'd like to purchase dog and cat specialty treats, dog and cat food. Dog clothes, pet bowls, carriers... Also leashes and collars... Is there a magazine to buy that shows you different products?

I am the soon-to-be owner of a Boston Terrier puppy. I'm shopping around for the things I'll need, and I was wondering what the difference was between a crate/kennel and a carrier. Do I need both? Neither? Can dogs sleep in them? Or do I need to get a bed also?

Also, could you tell me a few of the other things I'll need? Do you have any recommendations on brands or types?

And is padding for the crate worth it? For the sides?

And do puppy pads work? Are they useful?

Thanks, yall :)

I can't find any information on how often I should bathe my Jack Russell (possible rat terrier mix)

I got him in July. I bathed him a few days after I got him (He really needed it!!) And once since (probably in October or November)

He doesn't look dirty, but he's a little smelly. I'm not sure if it's just normal doggie smell or if he needs a bath.

I know some dogs shouldn't be bathed too freqently. Thanks for your help!

I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 14 month old. I'm really eager to get a puppy (a small housedog). How much longer should I wait, or would now be fine? I want the boys to "grow up" with their dog, but I also want the puppy to be safe. Any feedback is very helpful! I'm considering a mini dacshund.

We rescued a 2-3 yr old female. She is pretty thin and may have been abused. She is very timid and quiet. We will get her to the vet ASAP, but we know nothing about this breed. Any advise?

I came home from work today, and my dog has chewed off his harness, and eaten all of the nylon straps, leaving only a pile of rings and buckles! Is this serious enough that I need to call a vet, or will it likely just pass through? Is there anything I can do right now for him?

My 2-yr old Italian Greyhound just recently started marking inside the house. He is neutered(since 3 months old) and there is nothing new going on in our lives. He is particularly partial to marking on shopping bags and my son's toys, but not limited to those items as he has also marked an armchair once that is not new either. I am at wit's end about it. Since it is cold here, he has not wanted to go very much and is not getting nearly the exercise that he does in fair weather, but nothing has changed since last Winter and he didn't mark then. Any suggestions?

There are communal water bowls at the dog beach I take my dog to. I never let her drink from them because I thought it was gross. But I was wondering if dogs have any communicable diseases that could be passed along through the use of a communal water dish?
