She has had Gizmo for 3 years, she rescued him from his previous owners who used to kick/beat and set him on fire!

He generally is a happy dog now, loves meeting people, has learnt a few commands which he does well, he just seems to have a problem when she tries to get him to lie down or to sit as he starts growling and showing his teeth, he has gone for her before as well.

I dont think its a question of dominance as he is quite a submissive dog otherwise. Does anybody have any ideas on what to do? Any tips/tricks etc.. gratefully accepted!

Thanks in advance!

I have a Rat Terrier Mix. he sheds A LOT i do brush him and bathe him on a regular basis. but its not stopping! i know that i CANT stop the sheddin, but what can i do that will help more?i asked the vet if he is healthy, and if im feeding him the right foods, and he said yes, they just shed a lot. but i really do want to know if theres like a brush of some sort that would work really well. i have a rubber type brush for him, it works, but not to the extent that i want it to work. any suggestions? thanx a bunch and God Bless ♥HiD♥

My dog is a beagle-german shepherd mix, and while I love him dearly, I HATE how much he sheds. Seriously - even in winter. Its worse if he's nervous or excited, because then its like he drops an entire dog's worth of hair all over! Any suggestions on how to reduce the shedding. -- His coat is beautiful, so I doubt its a health issue, but I'm no expert.

I am, unfortunately, sometimes gone for long hours, leaving my dog alone. He is very smart, and I'd like to make sure he's entertained while I'm gone. He doesn't seem to know how to play, or entertain himself. I've thought about getting him a companion - either another dog (he loves to play with others) or maybe a cat (he's fascinated with the cat next door), but I'd love some suggestions for how to get him involved in play activities, too. Thanks in advance.

In October of 2006, I was in the backyard with my mom working on my pullups for gymnastics. Out of the blue, my dog, who was normally sweet and caused no harm, came up and attacked me.(Yes, it was severe, I had to get stitches.) I don't know why, I was never mean to him. My mom said it was a freak accident, and my dad took him to the humaine society thinking I was over reacting.

Well it turned out I had to get titches, and some of the bites developed infections, it hurt a lot! And after time grew apart, sadness turned into pain, pain into sickness, and sickness into FEAR and RAGE and ANGER. It so happens now that I was sad my dog had to be taken away, It hurt so much and caused so much harm and pain that now I am afraid and hate dogs. I need advice on how to manage this, and how to be less angry and afraid. Can someone please help?

Our dog won't look at herself if a mirror, even when picked up and encouraged to do so. I have noticed this with previous dogs too.
Is there a simple biological explaination? It is quite spooky! Has anyone else noticed this?

It's on a special diet, but still occasionally has diarrhea. Vet says could grow out of it or need special diet & meds forever.

We have a yellow lab that is currently living outside, and I hate it. It's so cold out there for him and he is lonely. We tried bringing him in but my mom just kept sneezing, and where she has asthma, she's had to use her inhaler a couple of times where normally, she hasn't used it in months, so they sent my dog packing back outside for her health.
We wish he could come inside, but mom's health is most important. And we think it's his dander thats causing her to do this.
Is there anyway she can get some medicine for this or we can get rid of his dander?
We have another dog, that's a chihuahua multese mix and she isn't allergic to him, but I don't understand why. Is it because he's been inside so much and has had so many baths? Should we give the outside dog a lot of baths to make it go away? Please help. And don't say "Give him away" because we love him a lot and spend lots of time with him when it's warm, and we'd like to when it's cold too.

Ok I’m looking to get a dog. I want a breed that is active and smart, but also good to keep indoors and is typically friendly with other people. I’ve never owned one before so I’m open to any suggestions. Does anybody have any favorite breed recommendations from experience?
